@mariner4life I am talking more about certain scenes, what you see in the background of shots, dialogue, etc, not so much the plot. I enjoyed it but have recorded for a second run at some stage after reading a few reviews of the entire season.

    Watchmen is really fucking weird

Yep, but not as weird as Legion. You need to be familiar with the Watchmen comics to pick up on all of the easter eggs, which I am not.

I heard it had departed a fair bit from the original?

I see the latest Dr Who series has 7% on rotten tomatoes . I haven’t seen any of it but the writing has been awful for a while . It probably peaked with Tennant and the Blink episode.

@jegga Same as Season 11, audience score being warped by InCels who can't handle a female Dr. It's not great but it's certainly better than it's RT score

It’s a bit harsh to call them incels for being fucked off that somethey they’ve invested in has become shit . It’s like they are trying to sell cat food to dogs , their fan base never seemed to have any problem with strong female characters they had a problem with crap writing and politics being bought into it. I tapped out a few episodes into the last dr , it was obvious he was trying his best but there wasn’t much to work with .
If you trust rt the audience score is up to 16% now from a couple of days ago .

    Really good.

@Bones saw that pop up the other day and thought it could be good.

    Finished The Capture.

6 ep series, which for the most part I thought was good, but like so many series, I think they struggle with ending them.

Watched a couple of videos yesterday, rotten tomatoes got busted wiping the rating to make it look better. Unfortunately the viewer numbers are tanking big time so ruining their credibility was a waste of time .

Anybody else checking out the Apple TV+ offerings?

You can see most of their first eps for free and if you want to binge there is a one week free trial followed by $8.99 a month if you don't cancel.

So far I have watched the first ep of a couple of series.

See - Aquaman plays lead dude of a 'primitive' tribe set in a seemingly post apocalyptic era where no one has the sense of sight. Of course their other senses are more acute, which explains how they can have battles. (Somehow they also do a haka before battle which they learned without watching each other.). Anyway there is a bad queen who prays by rubbing herself off who is chasing Aquaman's tribe around because they are harbouring twins that can see. Yeah, I didn't get it either. Lots of $ spent to try and be another GoT without dragons.

Servant - This is just plain fucking weird. Not a single character is in any way endearing. A completely arrogant fucktard and his spinner wife hire a young nanny to look after a doll which is 'therapy' for their cot death child. The nanny is a devout, and boring, christian and there is a side character played by Ron Weasley whose part is unclear. So bad you almost want to watch the next ep to see if it gets worse. And yes, the 'doll' comes to life.

Will also try 'Truth be told' with an interesting premise around a 'true crime' podcaster and 'For all mankind' a series set as if the space race never finished and NASA astronauts were still a big thing.
Not really interested in 'The Morning Show' despite the Golden Globe nominations

If you have an apple phone or iPad the shows can be found on the TV app along with PPV stuff. Need a ATV to watch on big screen (or cast)

@Crucial I really don't know what Apple is doing here ... they don't have a big content dump and "lots" of the content is just rentals/buy from iTunes.

But, if you buy an Apple product you get it free for a year.

Yeah, but the subscription is 'cheap' compared to many other players and I guess they are counting on people flicking it on against their apple account and not noticing. Does still seem expensive with no back catalogue although cheap compared to PPV movies/TV etc.
The whole market has gone haywire anyway with Disney (and soon Warners) doing their own content.

Disney looks to be the bargain at the moment although they have very little new content so only really for people that like rewatching things

Disney have a bunch of stuff in the pipeline and their back catalogue is deep so I think they're sorted. I reckon their kids stuff/Pixar etc will keep up their subscriber numbers.

Apple need to do a lot of work in the next 12 months to get me to pay for a subscription.

It's getting annpying the amount of streaming services there are/will be. My favourite currently in Oz is Stan (and Netflix I guess) as it has a bunch of different shows ... but I'm not sure how long it can compete against the big players.

@Nepia i also like Stan, also Amazon. It does my head in that nobody has an "aggregator" product out there. Searching for a show you've heard of on multiple services is so painful.

Yeah, I'm not watching that much at the moment anyway and a lot of the quality is coming from the UK via BBC, ITV and C4 anyway which I can watch via VPN.
The only show in a while I have wanted to pay to watch is the Mandalorian (which was worth it)

The reason I mentioned the Apple stuff is that with a free first ep followed by a one week trial you can easily watch a whole series for free (if you find one that interests you)

Amazon Fire 'aggregates' across apps, although the UI is poor and you won't get everything. It is a good start point to check if something is available though.

But, yes, even an app that you set country then searched to see where something is showing would be good. I often see shows mentioned here then struggle to find how to access them

I don't have Amazon but a mate does so I utilise that to watch shows. My streaming is crazy at the moment Netflix, Stan, Disney, Kayo, SBS ....

Yeah, I got locked into Stan by doing their free trial and then forgetting to cancel it and then deciding I liked a bunch of their shows so have kept it. It was annoying when Apple first started and there were only a couple of episodes of each series available, I was even more WTF back then.

that was supposed to be the job of Foxtel

but it will never happen, because there is way more money in subscribers than selling your show.

this is the inevitable result of "choice" and the death of Sky/Foxtel most on here have been hoping for, for what feels a decade. Some of us warned you.

It's fucking shit, and i hate it.
