Like what? My criticisms are:

- An unoriginal plot that is a shameless ripoff of E4.
- An emo villain who isn't very good.
- Killing off one of the heroes of the original trilogy. Lazy.

Why is killing a hero lazy? It's a war, eventually someone is going to die. You not liking a storyline where a previous hero is killed doesn't automatically mean it's lazy. If George RR Martin was the scriptwriter there wouldn't be a original trilogy character left.

The only issue I have with the death was they seemed to skip over it after the fact - I thought they could have pulled on the emotions a bit more (where's Spielberg when you need him?).

I nearly bought that BB 8 just for me the other day, it looked pretty cool.

I'm going to the movie again tonight....
-

This is the Falcon you are looking for. I see it was even more expensive than I remember.

Over 5000 pieces. The biggest Lego set ever made.
-
we're a very good Lego building trio but we've never taken on an ambitious project like the Millenium falcon! Here's hoping for a few rainy days to build it in if I decide to get it.

Geez, with all these toys is it any wonder George Lucas is a multi billionaire? I remember getting Star Wars figures of even the most obscure characters, a mate of mine in Nelson had every bounty hunter from Empire strikes back that appeared when DV was briefing them even though apart from Boba Fett they had a combined total of about a minutes screen time. -

...

Thanks to the success of American Graffiti, Lucas was entitled to a salary of $500,000 for directing what was now being called simply "Star Wars". Instead of accepting the nearly 300% pay raise, George approached the Fox executives with a proposition. George generously offered to keep his salary at $150,000 in exchange for two seemingly insignificant requests: #1) That he retain all merchandising rights, and #2) that he would retain the rights to any sequels. As crazy as it sounds now, at the time this was actually a fantastic deal for the studio. Fox had previously lost a fortune in the merchandising business with monumental failure of 1967's Doctor Dolittle, so they weren't exactly dying to get back into that world. Moreover, merchandise just wasn't a meaningful revenue stream in general back then. As for sequel rights, these were also not an important factor for Fox considering the fact that no executive thought the movie had a snowball's chance in hell of making money the first time around. So off George went to finalize his script with $150,000 and a what seemed like an incredibly naive contract in his pocket.

Not sure how the BB8 works with Bluetooth, but on the subject of toys, my young one was the ripe age for all the Lego during the Phantom Menace/ re-release of IV,V,VI days.

There was an awesome big Falcon released those days which I couldn't afford for him (it was around $400) which nowdays is worth a bomb. He has a motorized AT-AT that I saw sold (mint) for $2k recently.

The BB8 looks great but ive read its limited if you have heavy carpeted areas in your house
-

That might be the deal breaker, kitchen is Lino, everywhere else is carpet. -

Its really small, looks to be the size of an Orange. So thats probably why it will struggle on carpet.

Get the lego i gave you the link for :)
-
First 3D film I have completely been wow'd by. Just bloody brilliant. The whole thing.

Although you're always going to get a child like joy from me when you have a hero, a couple of X-wing and tai fighters thrown in with a dude with a dodgy voice that's bad. Reminds me of another movie but can't put finger on.... -

anyone else think the newer Lego is 'cheating'? There are a lot more custom moulded parts rather than having to create shapes from 'standard' blocks. It started to go downhill with some of the Star Wars stuff that was too hard to create small affordable versions of but then seemed to really go crap for a while with kits able to be built in minutes without much effort.

The earlier SW stuff would occupy the boy for hours with long instruction booklets.

From memory only I think we have the Motorized AT-AT, an early X-Wing, Snowspeeder, Slave I (with Han Solo in Carbonite), Tie Fighter.

Ones I regret not getting were the big Falcon, this Death Star II ( http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/10143_Death_Star_II )

After looking on the Lego site, I am now confused as to whether we actually have this one http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/7191_X-wing_Fighter. If we do that is really cool.
-

Saw it this morning - awesome! Was rough to see Han go down to a emo son's angsting, but I figure they don't actually want the older characters going too deep into the new movies. Luke will get his time next, not sure if that'll involve any kind of reunion with Leia... maybe Han's death will see Luke heading back rather than running a Yoda style Jedi bootcamp where they found him.

That was a cool scene though with the last of the light coming through and then fading as the super weapon charged and Han's time was up.

Thought the new crowd were really good. Especially Rey - she showed some pretty badass skills in that fight early on (dudes trying to nab BB8) so the end fight wasn't quite boss v newb.

Right nerd alert time...

Didn't like the 'abuse' of time/travel. Seems the rebels managed to learn about a new weapon, scramble an attack, arrive and then pull it off before the super weapon charged up?? Plus it was inside a planet that appeared to be in orbit? So once you charge up off your local star you are out of ammo? Presume it can travel otherwise that't be pretty lame.

But by god the sound of lasers and going to lightspeed never gets old!
-

My only quibble with the whole thing was, where the fuck did they find Anakin/Luke's blue lightsaber?

Went and watched it last night. Felt like I was five years old again from the moment the score started. Looked like Episode IV redux and unsurprisingly that's what made it so good for me. Ignored plot holes or sequencing issues because I'm fairly certain I didn't notice shit like that when I was a kid. Sets it up nicely for Episode VIII. Well done J.J. Abrams, I'll put the pitchfork away.

Question, how does the Millennium Falcon steer?

Repulsorlift technology.

I gave my reasons above. In any case, this guy was a hero who saved Luke's life twice and who played a vital role in destroying the Empire. The start of E6 was all about him being rescued. It would have been ok if he went out in a blaze of glory or sacrificed himself for the many. But no, he was killed by his bloody Marilynmanson. He didn't even get a proper burial, his body just fell into a void. That was shit. -

in a way he did sacrifice himself by confronting his son.

Something something every other show does it when they run out of ideas is what I remember from your original posts - considering they're about to make 2 more movies and a bunch of side ones I don't think they're out of ideas really.
