And India get home with an over to spare?
Not looking good. This tour could get ugly fast.
On the plus side, if India wrap up the series early, you guys will get to see Sanju "Rohit Sharma Redux" Samson launch his India career in style.

We have a few issues recently with our cricket.
Our "attack" is a sort of welcoming committee.
One of our spinners doesn't. The other one can't get it to land on the pitch.
Our "quicks" aren't terribly, well, quick.
More so in Aus than last night but:
Our "bats" didn't.And then last night there was the fielding...
The team that I have supported for years appears to be back.

So apart from the batting, bowling, and fielding, there’s lots to be optimistic about for the rest of the series.
Wicketkeeper seemed solid.

It's annoying that the fielding has been below par in recent times - missing runouts and dropping catches and - especially - missing these when it's top order batsmen.
Bowling - well, we don't have Boult or Ferg for quite a bit of this series, so that is going to test the paddling pool. But, I'm interested to see how Hamish Bennett goes - he's not played as many international matches as he's probably warranted. And Tickner got a few through at 140+ kmh - which is better than I thought he was capable of.
As above - the batting was good last night, given that we know the Indian attack is better than ours - especially what we fielded last night. We're back on our flat pitches and the Indians don't have towering fast bowlers to bounce us off the park, so we should make enough runs to make for competitive games.
Interestingly, I heard John Morrison on Radiosport yesterday (amidst lots of waffling) being very direct about how NZ Cricket administrators sold the troops down the river by agreeing to play the first Oz test in Perth and under lights. Something along the lines of "Who in their right minds would agree to play the fastest and bounciest attack on the world's fastest and bounciest pitch first up on tour?". He thought we were shot to pieces after that test.
The discussion was at about 2.20 pm if anyone is interested to listen.

..and what I meant to note - in terms of well-organized tours - is that India has already had its A team touring here for a week - already played 4 ODIs - and they'll play another and then two tests. So if the top team suffers any injuries they'll have replacements already acclimatized and ready-to-go.

Ummm, I'm not that sure about Seifert either. He doesn't get to play in longer forms for a reason.
Drinks carrying seems O.K. so far.
Who coaches that? I have yet to see a dropped bottle, unlike the ball.

This seems totally out of proportion to the actual match. We put up a decent total, but Eden Park is probably one of the easiest grounds in the world to chase on. I don't think we can really take anything serious from that game.
Except that our bowling is average at best?

Maybe, and it was batting in Aus that I talked about, but EP was a road with boundaries that are a joke. Setting a target on that is tough I know, but I miss the aggression of McCullum. I never thought 200 was going to be enough.

Fitting that the 7s and t20 on at the same time. Definite parallels in terms of the fickleness of the result with " on the day" performances being more prevalent than a decider of the superior cricket team.
Does anyone remember the results of t20 games played a month after?
I'm one of those curmudgeons that thinks international teams shouldn't play t20 series, ( fine with a tournament though), but I also acknowledge that the revenue trumps the contest purity

100%, you and I talked about it during the match. It was high risk playing the pink ball first up and it backfired badly in the end. NZC really needs some admins with balls.
