'For all Mankind' on Apple TV+

Watched the first ep which was great. An alternative reality where the Ruskies beat the US to the first man on the moon which then starts a tit for tat escalation of space race 'firsts'

Some reviews can't help but see it through the current political environment lenses and claim it is a vehicle for woke-ness (first woman, first black etc etc) but anything with a premise of showing great space shots and continuing, what was a cool period in history instead of it fizzling out, sounds alright to me. No need to read much into it.

Production values are high and the scripting/acting of good quality. Not groundbreaking but looks like it could be a good watch.

Going to time it right for a one week free trial and binge this.

I really enjoyed FAM. Yeah it’s easy to see it through a woke lens but there are some good side issue raised too, like the morality of hiring von Braun, Nixon’s narcissism, and whether Jimmy Carter would ever have been president in Ted Kennedy hadn’t attended that party. Keep watching till after the end credits of the last episode for a real geek moment.

@taniwharugby yeah that sounds right, but it seems to have morphed into a show about drag queens touring and recruiting for a show

    It's good to be home!!!

The Good PLace - assume it is over for good now.

Bit of a hit and miss show, some eps were average AF, others very good, but overall, decent series.

Jason was probably my favorite character in it.

Anytime I had a problem and I threw a Molotov cocktail, boom! Right away, I had a different problem.

I came up with hundreds of plans in my life, and only one of them got me killed.

Also just finished His Dark Materials

Pretty decent series, much better than the movie.

I'm saving the last three episodes but I've done two watches of all the other seasons and it stands up to my favourite sitcoms. Even the Aussie set episodes are good, especially when you remove the WTF the is going on reaction that I had first time round.

I did really enjoy it, but as I said, there were just some eps that were average, but they dont detract from it as a whole.

Final ep is an hour too BTW.

After 2 months of deadline hell (if I ever even murmur about accepting a deadline over Christmas/New Years/high summer again, just slap me) I've been binging Why Women Kill ( @taniwharugby rec). Six episodes in and really enjoying it.

Watched the 1st episode of Treadstone. Thought it was a really solid action show. No idea why it got such bad reviews.

I finished watching this last night. Decent enough but it seems everyone is a cicada. Some plot twists at the end to make S2 interesting.

Anyone else watching The Outsider? Jason Bateman has been involved in some good shows in recent years.

@Bovidae I've done 3 eps, 3rd was annoying but enough to persevere with.

Bit worried it'll go Castle Rock

    Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet

An Apple offering set in the office of the biggest online RPG.

Watched a couple of eps, looks like it could be a decent time filler (25 min eps)
