@MajorRage oh it occurred to me sure. I had tickets once but they fell through, and had a few of chances to go sit with away fans which I didn't want to do .

But to be quite honest, I was by then, and still am now, very much a part-time supporter. By that I mean that I will never ever support another team, but that I have very little interest in actually watching games. This is clearly an extraordinary year for us (๐Ÿ˜‰), and I haven't watched a single game. I became disillusioned with the game a long time ago. A combination of diving theatrics, disgraceful player discipline (intimidating referees the worst example), and the fact that it seems the league was structured another only a team with a billionaire owner and deep willing pockets could win (Leicestershire disproved that somewhat).

I still follow with interest, but I just don't watch games anymore.

I support and will always support the Chiefs and Waikato but I have no desire to go to a match anymore. I'm very happy watching with some mates or at home. Doesn't mean I like the team any less.

Their sin't a list of rules you must follow to be a supporter and no one wins "best supporter' for going to a game in the cold. You do get annoying twats who some thingk this is important

With Liverpool thumping Southampton, and City losing to Spurs, they are now 6 wins from the title.

@voodoo I think you know Iโ€™m on the wind up ...

In truth I have no issues with why anybody supports who they do. However on my first UK stint I never understood why Liverpool supporting antips wouldnโ€™t come watch Chelsea, Fulham, QPR, Palace in London because they only supported Liverpool.

And yet they never once went up to Anfield either.

Meetups in pubs literally 2-3 x a week to watch other games, so massive football fans too ...

City Spurs was awesome. City all over them first 50 mins but just couldnโ€™t score.

Then an absolute pearlier from Spurs new Dutchman and it all changed.

It does look to be one of those season. Liverpool were run around by Southampton in the first half, requiring Shane Long to block a goal bound shot yet get a comfortable win. City did everything but score against Spurs for an hour, get a man sent off, concede to the opposition's first shot (how often has that happened) and lose. Liverpool are comfortably the best team in the division but their actual lead is now just freakish in its unlikely size!

As of 2014 the record for most points in a season was 105 (a Welsh team in the mid nineties). Not sure if Barcelona or Real Madrid have done better than that in the years since. Liverpool can get to 112 if they win out.

Doesn't look like any top flight team has done better than Barry Town's 105. But! Reading managed 106 in the 2005/06 championship season.

So Liverpool can afford to drop 5 points to claim both best ever top flight points total in Europe and best ever in the UK.

Obviously a massive advantage to play in a bigger league with more games, but I haven't look at best ever in terms of points dropped which would be a better measure.

@Cyclops Spain - Real and Barcelona got to 100 points in a season back to back 11/12 & 12/13

                  • no side has gone undefeated since the 30's when the season was only 18 games. Barcelona and Real have both had season(s) with only one loss. 88/89 for Real and 09/10 and 17/18 for Barca.

Italy - Juve got 102 points in 13/14 but had 2 losses. In 11/12 they went unbeaten (part of a run of 18 mths without a loss) but had 15 draws and only finished on 84 points
AC Milan went unbeaten in 91/2 (2 points for a win) but had 12 draws

Germany - Bayern (predictably) has highest season total 91 in 12/13. That total says they have always dropped a few points although they have twice only suffered one defeat

                  France - PSG got 96 in 15/16
Nantes only had one loss in 94/5 but a lot of draws

                  Elsewhere
South Shields in 16/17 in Div 1 of the Northern Football League got 108 points from 42 games - 2 losses

Steaua Bucharest went undefeated in 104 domestic games from 86-89 during which time they also won the European Cup against Barcelona (on penalties). They also made the final again in 89 at the end of their run but lost to AC Milan 4-0

and of course in 16/17 under Brendan Rodgers Celtic were undefeated in all domestic comps getting to 106 points in the League with only 4 draws

unluckiest team - Atlรฉtico Mineiro in 1977 in Brazil won their group in all three rounds of the league (they had a weird complicated system) then cleaned up the semi before losing the final 2-3 on penalties to Sao Paulo after a scoreless game.

Across the entire season they played 21 with 17 wins and 4 draws a GD of 39 and totalled 10 more points than Sao Paulo but finished with nothing

Can I just say the FFP rules are shit and should be scrapped. They are a ring fence sold to the public as a measure to keep small clubs afloat.

Pretty sure City have less debt than Man U.

Liverpool finally hit the buffers. Looked very sluggish and didn't really create a decent chance. 1 shot on target all game.

Meanwhile Watford look too good to go down, Sarr is a great prospect and with West Ham and Norwich winning, the battle to survive is intense.

and another away loss this morning to Chelsea. Man U fans will celebrate their Treble not being eclipsed this season in the same way Gooners were celebrating their loss on the weekend

If Liverpool are going to have a dip, dipping with a 22 point lead is the way to do it! The worry is that if they go out of the Champions League next week, their season is all but over in March - they can lose all their remaining EPL games and still win get the title!

Also progressing in the FA Cup so far are Arsenal, Newcastle, Sheff U so all Premier League teams so far.

Rooney v Man U coming up later in the week
