Apparently bono was their to talk on what it means to be Irish. Which is reasonable cos there are a few guys on the team who don't really have a clue about that.... 🎣 😜

That's odd given Paul Hewson moved to the Netherlands for tax purposes...

This is a big story this morning in the UK. Have I missed something?

England rugby coach Eddie Jones sorry for implying reporter thinks half-Asians 'look the same'

England rugby coach Eddie Jones sorry for implying reporter thinks half-Asians 'look the same'

Eddie Jones made the comment after he was asked about his meditation techniques - something he didn't think he had spoken about.

A reporter got their facts wrong. Eddie made a (quite funny) joke about it. The reporter didn't see the funny side of it. Challenged Eddie afterwards. Eddie apologised if any offensive was taken and shook the reporter's hand.

Storm in a tea cup IMHO.

Looks like Jones got it wrong, not the journo.

Jones couldn't differentiate between meditation and mindfulness and then call the journo out for implied racism.

    A racist joke...

.... But against his own racial make up...

... So outrage or not? I dunno, modern day is confusing

Video of the press conference. A female reporter (not a voice I recognise) .

Rather strange that after Eddie Jones said he wasn't into celebrity in reference to Bono that she invited him to opine on Caroline Flack.

Clearly certain Rugby reporters need to report on the game more.

Haaaa apparently Bono visited them to perform a "pep-talk".

Bet that would gee ya up eh.

He's a year too late to be able to discuss what its like to be massively overrated by your fans when the rest of the world thinks you're a bit shit. Do you reckon he snuck their latest album onto the teams phones without them asking for it?

England have named their team. I can't remember Jonathan Joseph on the Wing before:

@Bones I am a little underwhelmed by that selection. Too many players out of position. #candoajob 🙄

@Catogrande I really like the balance of the backline, but I'm a fan of Joseph. The loose forwards? Meh. Sinckler and Kruis are going to be busy carrying.

@Bones I too am a fan of Joseph and reckon he's been a bit unlucky under Eddie. However I have serious doubts about him as a winger, especially up against a fired up and confident Irish team with good wingers. I'm with you on the loose forwards, the current selection weakens us at 8 and at 6 as well as upsetting the balance. Not. A. Fan.

Lots of experience and quality for England in that side.

But Lawes is a Lock not a flanker. Curry is a flanker not a Number 8. Joseph is a Centre not a Wing.

I seem to recall Joseph being a wing who covered centre when he first came along. Am I wrong?

Proof will be in the pudding but I think he'll do very well.

@Bones My memory (which I have to admit is pretty much shot) is that he has filled in at wing before and done OK-ish.
