England just beat South Africa at home. But yeah, away test series wins are the absolute gold standard in test cricket at the moment.

@No-Quarter yeah that is the bit that still pisses me off. We were definitely undercooked going into the series. Then losing Lovely Trenty and Ferg was pretty much the deathblow. Still really salty about us not having any warm ups in Oz, and bringing Ferg in with no warm up was just plain dumb. Really wish we could have played to our potential - still might have been smoked but ...

.... you just want to see us come out swinging and give ourselves the best chance to compete. After no warm up games and playing in Perth in game 1, we had no chance

@canefan and that should land squarely with NZC and ol Steady as she goes. Although we probably had sweet F all bargaining power with Oz to get a warm up. But that dropping Ferg into the mix totally under cooked is agggh material.

@Paekakboyz I think (the cumulative effects of) a sequence of disasters derailed that tour in the first two days.
- Agreeing to play the first test in Perth on probably the world's fastest and bounciest pitch.
- Trent being injured.
- Losing the toss.
- Ferg getting injured and reducing our capacity/chances of knocking Oz over in the first night session.
- The Aussies batting precisely five sessions, so that we started our first innings under lights. Those two hours were some of the scariest bowling I've ever seen.
I think after two days we were pretty much shell-shocked.

Neutral conditions not territory. They can beat us on quick decks, spinning decks, green decks. Man for man they are better than us, if your life was on the line and you had to pick a trans Ta$man 11 to play to save you, how many kiwis would you put in? But as a team we can hold our own

That's quite funny, looking back. Goes to show we really are a team unit and if we lose a key player for a while we are a bit ordinary again.

Tbf SA have gone downhill in a big way recently, not the team they used to be.
Oz have some very big weapons in their side, probably the best bowling attack, big tall fast bowlers and a decent spinner (Lyons has been the top test wicket taker the last 3 years) and a batsmen who averages 60. Along with an opener who scores more often then he fails (especially at home).
