One might ask why the fark KJ wasn't in Aus when our bowlers dropped like flies.

@Mokey He was, just not selected.

A yorker might be a good option, Trent.

I'm going on a limb to say Jamieson over Ajaz was the right choice! 🙂

    Well done, Stead.

@Mokey That height and bounce would have been handy in Perth.

Overall, though, I'm not too worried that he didn't get a start in Sydney. A debut against the rampant Aussies in a demoralized team might have set him back a couple of years.

Jamieson has been good but not someone I actually expected to succeed. He lacks pace and doesn't do a lot with the ball. He is also not someone you would chuck the new ball to. As good as Jamieson has been, with Wagner a must pick, he is always competing with the spinner. It's nice not to have to pick a spinner when we often bowl them for 3 overs in a home test. I think you do want a spinner in Australia though.

What about at Lords in the final of the World Test Championship?

If we can win this test, we're in the hunt.

Our remaining series are Windies and Pakistan in NZ and Bangladesh away.

Optimistically, we could end up with 4 series wins a draw and a loss, which would quite likely be good enough.

No wickets lost at stumps, that's an excellent result.

    Jamieson moves it enough.

You only need to move it a little bit, with accuracy to be successful.

He's also quick enough as the bounce he gets make up for the lack of raw pace.

Now if he can be durable as well, we have a guy who can be a vital part of the bowling attack for the next 6 or 7 years

I'm not sure Jamieson is so slow - he hits mid 130s which is respectable. Certainly quicker than Southee. His main asset ( other than his height) is that he seems to control his length well. If he could become a good enough bat to be number 7 then he could play in a 4 man pave attack with a spinner.

Great to see Jamieson continuing to take wickets, he's such an exciting prospect.

We still have a LOT of work to do to take ascendancy in this one. India won't be completely disappointed with 242 - Kohli said after the first match that if they'd managed to get through to 230 things would have been different, and I agree with him.

We are going to want a lead of at least 100, meaning we still need to score another 300 odd.
