Batting conditions look tough out there, so every run is golden. Would be tempting to promote Colin to 3 with a licence to swing. A quick fire thirty wins the game now.

Bear in mind my hopelessness and ignorance, but why don't they just stand further down the pitch to eliminate the late swing? (Warner does that well)

    Be a big trade-off.

You'd shorten your time to react to deliveries and also shorten whatever is a good length on the pitch - so you get more steepling bounce, without necessarily negating all the seam/swing.

Blundell and Latham cashing in on the bad balls. Good proactive batting

We basically need 10 guys to get 13 apiece - so the Tom-Tom's are both in credit now and working for other guys!

Long may it continue, because it looks like a pitch where we could lose three or four quickly...

Boult in for a chance at our cheapest ever 5 for?
My crap skills using stat guru shows it to currently to be 5/26 by Bruce Taylor.

Edit: no wait there’s a 6/26 by Chris Martin and a 7/27 by Chris Cairns.

Hadlee had 7 for 23 at one stage.

    (v India Wellington 1976)

Ha ha!! That's exactly what I was thinking when we came out to bat.

They got bailed out in the first innings, so the batsmen have to stand up and do the job

    Yawn.

Refer to my post two up from yours. The batsmen have to front up. If is up to the bottom 4 we are in trouble and it's not their primary job

@canefan Tim needs 14* to average more than Kohli for the series.

If that was going to be the equation going into the series, you'd think Tim would've had his first test century!

But, going on averages so far in the series - the Toms better be working for Tim and BJ.

Anyway, lunch and that session ends up India 34/4 and us 46/0 so an excellent one for us in what was a pivotal session.

We've won the last two sessions pretty convincingly in the one innings shoot-out - need to avoid a disaster in the next one and we should be home.

Yeah - I've watched a lot of cricinfo when working overseas back in the day and the dreaded "freeze"while the commentators write up their description of the OUT is one of the most nerve-wracking things in sport.

Sometimes it was just that the server had frozen due to too many "Indians" watching - relief if the Craps were batting, massive annoyance when fielding!

He's called quite a few results prematurely and wrongly in recent times - especially in the T20s vs India! 🙂

I'm wondering when I will relax? I think if these two are still in and we only need 40 then I will relax
