<p>I'm the same, and due to the awful awful reviews too, it was $10 movie this week and I couldn't bring myself to go and see it. I seem to remember when we discussed this earlier when the preview clip came out at least one poster saying it looked good and they wanted to see it ... maybe they can give us a run down of how it was?</p> -
<p>Bone Tomahawk. Pace is slow, but excellent movie.</p>

Watched the Hateful Eight in 70mm last night. <br><br>
I'm a fan of Tarantino so I was predisposed to liking it, but I thought it was great. Much better than The Revenant (I watched them a week apart). <br><br>
Was a bit weird having an intermission though. Kind of took me out of the film a bit.<br><br>
Walter Goggins from the Shield and Justified was great and it was a film that weirdly didn't have a real lead as the focus point of the story kept moving.<br><br>
Obviously as it's Tarantino there's a lot of gratuitous violence and use of the N word.</p></blockquote>
Did exactly the same and watched on the super wide screen last night. Apparently Odeon Leicester Sq is the only cinema in London that can project in 70mm panavison. <br><br>
Thought the idea of an interval was a bit pretentious- but it really worked the cinema was buzzing talking about the film and it kinda reminded me of going to the cinema as a kid when it was a real event. Also the film works well in two halves as they are quite different in feel.<br><br>
Loved the film, felt like watching a theatre production at times with the scenes inside the "haberdashery", also had a Reservoir Dogs feel in the 2nd half. The Shield guy was great, Samuel L did what Samuel L does best, Jason Leigh also great. Sadly Michael Madsen seems a bit past his sell by date though. -
Yeah, probably more of a watch for QT fans. Sometimes I like a more relaxed pace. So many films with frantic quick cuts these days, it's nice to sit back and let the characters and plot develop rather than constantly wondering wtf is going on. Or maybe I'm just slow

Caught up with Se7en over the weekend, superb movie. <br>
Brad Pitt does the cocky not in control with his emotions superbly. Morgan Freeman is just Morgan Freeman. And Kevin Spacey in an u credited role does John Due perfectly.<br><br>
But by fuck it's a depressing ending movie. -

Yeah I think MM is a bit tubby and less menacing these days. Hard to project menace when you're a bit lardy unless you're Jabba the Hutt.<br><br>
In the spirit of mid 90s classics ( I wanna see Se7en again ) I watched Heat recently. Fucken brilliant flick, long but it never drags. -

<p>I liked the Hateful 8 too. It was slow as molasses, really long, filled with Tarantino's self-indulgent dialogue and yet when the credits started rolling at the end I couldn't be but that it was kind of awesome!</p>

<p>Agree that it is enjoyable to let the characters and plot develop - I don't think Tarantino gets enough credit for that TBH. On my recent re-watch of Inglorious Basterds I noted how much character development, across the board, was built into that one film.</p> -
QT has been around for ages yet hasn't actually directed a huge amount of flicks. In my opinion his truly outstanding efforts are Reservoir Dogs ( which is actually a bit dated now ), Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and Inglourious Basterds. Django was bloody good but not quite p in that league and put me down as a bit of a hater of Kill Bill and Death Proof. <br><br>

I've seen Death Proof only once so perhaps need another viewing to confirm where it stands. I just really didn't dig Kill Bill for whatever reason, 2nd was definitely better ( mainly cos of Michael Madsen ). I enjoyed Jackie Brown heaps more than most folk I know, SLJ and Robert De Niro were fantastic as always but the lesser lights in that were awesome as well. -
<p>There are aspects of Kill Bill 1 that are overly cartoonish but there are also classic scenes. The prelude to the Pussy Wagon in the hospital. The soccer mom fight scene in the kitchen. The anime introduction(100% cartoonish but not what I meant) to Lucy Liu's character (O-Ren-Ishi) and the Sonny Chiba master samurai turned sushi chef thing were awesome.</p>

<p>I'm the complete opposite, rarely have I been so disappointed to see a sequel come and out not live up to the original - it was like I was watching the Phantom Menace all over again.</p> -

I think my top four would be about the same as that Raz but it's concerning to see the latest flick rated so low. <br><br>
You're right about Kill Bill, some scenes are iconic but the scene in the club where she sliced up everyone was just fucken ridiculous when you consider in the next movie a drunken has been took her out with next to no effort.
