@Crucial Expect an announcement about the sport offering in a few days I'm told.

They have been telling everyone that for days now. As I said, they are holding out hoping that NZR comes to the rescue.
That's fair enough except that when you sell product on a time sub basis you would think that when you can't provide what people have paid for, an interim gesture is quickly put in place.
The 'tell us what you want replayed' thing is a time eating diversion.
I just don't think they have front-footed this well considering that live sport is by far the biggest driver of their income.

Replays are good for the commercial arm of pubs and clubs to have something on screen but I would be certain that plenty of families are having the discussion of 'why are we paying Sky for something they aren't providing?'

Very unusual circumstances, yes, but IMO better calls could have been made. Maybe they have looked at the renewal dates and feel they can hold people at bay for a few days? To me it looks like company first, customers second.

@Crucial I agree but by the same token won't NZR, NZRL, Netball NZ, etc also be shitting themselves as they might not be able to provide Sky with the sports content they (Sky) have paid for. This will likely have flow-on effects right down to the athletes taking pay cuts.

I would also be concerned that it takes longer to rebuild an audience lost as subscribers drop off and have to opt in again. If I was NZR I would be imploring Sky to pull out the stops to maximise retention.

Not Sky as such but no games means no TAB revenue either, so there's a lot of financial pain everywhere.

I cancelled my Kayo subscription, they must be bleeding subscribers.

Didn't stick around for the $5 special?

Didn't see it, they must be desperate.

Unless you are a supporter of the teams playing I wouldn't be watching.

Yeah, odd to have just two teams when you could have them all playing.

@Nepia I suppose it is because they were meant to be playing on Fri night.

I've got a few games saved on MySky I could watch including the 1998 Ranfurly Shield game between Waikato and Canterbury in glorious 4:3.

I have no idea what the draw was now that it's over. 😢

@Bovidae Must depend on what subscription you have. I definitely get 4 free downloads of box office movies.

I hear Cats is really good.....

@dogmeat I think so. Box Office would be more appealing as those are the newer releases.

I assume you guys are full Sky subscribers?
I have received nothing from a monthly pass that I got a couple of games from. Probably in the T&Cs when I paid.
That Chiefs loss hurts even more now I know what it cost to watch.

It seems we all get offered something else. We get access to Sky Entertainment and Soho from Wednesday, 25th (for 3 months). 😞
