Read the book.

Its one of the best hard gritty sci fi books out there. Its basically Raymond Chandler in the future. Chinatown with lasers. LA Confidential meets The Matrix. Its fricking great. And its standalone, you don't need to read the others.

The stand alone sequels are solid but not in the same league. He hit his peak book one. One of the seminal sci fi novels about, up there with Neuromancer, Snow Crash, Use Of Weapons etc

It got optioned as a movie the day it came out & no one could figure out how to make it. Or at least without spending $200m on a hard R rated movie. Bit like Neuromancer in that regard. Guessing "The Expanse" getting made has led the way on that & the likes of GoT showed graphic violence & nudity & lead charcters getting their face shot off & so on doesn't stop it finding an audience.

One you accept that a brain is just RAM in a goo form designed to process electrical impluses & the electrical impulses are the key bit, it works. It doesn't push the science elemnent too hard so the "how" aspect is never really explained, leaving a bit of room. Maybe the Sleeves (new bodies) are a hybrid etc, so you sare only 60% uploaded, but don't remember what wasn't uploaded. Like porting an Amiga game to an Atari ST. The ST version doesn't know its sound is shit compared to the original.

Ha! Gary. Ms Cato No1 has been trying to get me into graphic novels with the main one she's pushing being "Preacher". In this the main man has the ability to use THE WORD which makes anyone obey him and he off handedly told one of the characters to go fuck himself. Sadly said character had to cut off his own cock to enable him to stuff it up his arse.

This did not end well for said character.

Yeah I think JJ was better than Daredevil, and the proposed crossover also includes Luke Cage as well (the big black guy - who I understand marries JJ in the world of Marvel)

Tennant (aka the Purple Man) had a daughter, again, in the Marvel world, so unsure if that will come through in the series at some point.

I saw an ad for 11 22 63, I didn't know it was going to be made into a TV series. IMHO it's easily the best Stephen King book. I hope the TV show does it justice. Cast looks decent for a start.

He must be, didn't know that was his as well. The actual story is great and unlike most of his books this one has an ending that ties up the loose ends .

I see Seth Rogan is involved in the preacher series Cato mentioned .

Yep, there is going to be a Defenders show where some of these guys team up (like a small scale Avengers). Then an Iron Fist Show, Punisher as well. JJ & DD are getting new seasons too. Forgot Luke Cage as well.

If they are all as good as the first two we are in for a treat.

Has it been abbreviated due to FTWD or is normal to cut a series in half like that?

Saw Ep1 of 'Stan Lee's Lucky Man'.

Looks promising. I guess the reason it is titled that way is because this is a Stan Lee idea that he has not already done in the Marvel setup. Despite the clumsy name this is a Brit production starring James Nesbitt as the usual brit style broken copper (bad gambling habit and broken marriage). He meets a mysterious woman one night and wakes up with cash and an odd bracelet on his arm that he cant remove. Turns out he can now control his luck (which looks very hard to get a hang of). Good luck seems to have to balance out with bad. eg the bad guy he owed a lot of money to dies (good), but he is suspected of involvement (bad).

Production values are good and the characters are interesting.

One to avoid: That new show on TV1 with the woman that is found in Times Square with no memory and covered in tattoos. Complete load of bollocks. Handled well the premise had promise. There could have been character development and a slow realisation of how this came about. Instead with the first half of the first ep (and about a day in real time) it is established that the tattoos are clues to future crimes and she was ex special ops. Although she has no memory she has retained fighting abilities and linguistics and will now tag along with a cardboard cutout FBI agent in a procedural.
