I'm hoping it's the Broncos vs Panthers, and the Panthers to take the chocolates.

I'm happy with the final four teams - should be a cracker and no Seattle. Brady V Manning (for probably the last time), Cam V Carson. All good.

Dunno who I'll back though.

Be cool to see Peyton have a fairytale finish to his career but be even cooler to see Roger Goodell be forced to give Brady & Bill the trophy once more. Cam Newton was my MVP in the TSF fantasy football comp but the Arizona defence won me the TSF fantasy football final.

Hmm, I'll go Arizona to win it all.

Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer, and Cam Newton. All first draft picks.

Carson Palmer and Cam Newton. Both heisman winners.

Brady will be going in as the underdog for sure.

Righto, finally caught up on watching playoff games - hard to find time with a young family and still needing to sleep. A few thoughts on the last couple of weekends below. I even avoid the NFL threads before i know the result (which is a pity as there are a few die hard fans hidden on the Fern)

Bengals Steelers (I know it's a week old, but hey)

Man, what a grudge match. It's bloody great when (occasionally) players start looking like they really really hate the opposition and want to kill them. Amazing stuff, ugly scenes from the crowd and a massive implosion by Burdick and then Jones that cost their team the game. Still, the Bengals arguably won the battle, but lost the war.

Pats Chiefs

by god Brady is clutch. This game for me demonstrated how wafer thin the margins are at the top level. Chiefs pushed them to numerous third and long that got converted but could easily have been derailed. Very, very impressive and they ran away with it in the end. KC just didn't bring enough, and dont' seem to be in a hurry, ever.

Cards Packers

given how rubbish the Packers have been, I didn't prioritise watching this. Still have it on mysky to catch up over the next few days -sounds like one hell of a game.

Cam Newton vs Hawks

wow. Just wow. 31-0 at half time against that defence? Insane. And a great comeback from pooing the bed in the first half.... still, I guess the Seahawks had their miracle last week with the missed field goal. Their new receiver Lockett looks the goods for a bloke from the third round of hte draft. Goes to show yet again that it's really hard to pick talent that can make it in the pros.

Overall, I love knockout football. Roll on the last three games of the year, and looking forward to a tasty superbowl matchup. For me, anyone but the Patriots to win the damn thing please.

I only take interest at playoffs stage and certainly don't know enough to warrant following a whole game. Because of that I probably haven't built an immunity to player behaviour. Why do they all seem to act like complete twats/Chris Ashton everytime they just do their job? Catch a ball or make a tackle and then leap around swinging arms like an orangutan? Man there are some overpaid over-egoed dickwads in this sport.

My sentiments as well! I'll be cheering for the NFC champ as neither team has won the Super Bowl before.

    Nearly choked but good enough.
I'm in Denver all day the day before Superbowl and on the morning of the game. In the mountains by game start so will be watching at Breckenridge Brewery I hope. Will have to join in with the locals.

Panthers flogging the Cardinals, so they will be strong favourites for the Super Bowl.

Imagine most neutrals will be cheering for Peyton though.

I just wanted the Pats to lose. :mocking:

If it's Broncos vs. Panthers, then we'll see two of the best defences in a SB match-up. I just think Carolina is on a mission and in Cam Newton they have a running back who just happens to throw really well too.

Happiest man after the games today (one game in particular) is this guy:

AFC Championship was one for the ages while Arizona just wasn't ready for the big show. Have to back my boy Cam since he won me the fantasy football title but wouldn't mind seeing Peyton and his big forehead ride off into the sunset with the Vince Lombardi trophy.

A few stats from ESPN:

The Broncos equal the record for the most Super Bowl appearances now (8) with 3 other teams but the less said about their record the better.

We will have the best defence (Broncos) vs the best offence (Panthers) in terms of points scored per game. Carolina has the no.2 defence.

The first Super Bowl with both QBs being the no.1 pick in their draft.

These teams haven't played each other since 2012.

It is simple: stop Cam, Broncos win. Don't stop Cam, Panthers win in a rout.

Broncos did a great job on stopping Brady at key times. Trouble is that those defensive moves on him have now been broadcast. They may have had to play that card early.

Newton is everything Brady and Manning aren't - quick and mobile. If the Broncos defensive line can't dominate the Panthers offensive line then Cam will have plenty of time to find his receivers, and find holes for the RBs. He's also a huge threat to run himself.

NFL Free Agency has started. Welcome to the offseason.

Most of the storyline is around the Superbowl Champion Denver Broncos. First Peyton rides off into the sunset a champion, and now Brocky O has bolted to the Texans for a $72 million deal. That leaves the Broncos with this guy as their current QB:

Know him?

So what do Denver do? Reports are flying around that the Broncos will sign either RGIII or Ryan Fitzpatrick, or draft either Connor Cook or Dak Prescott and start em straight away. Two trade options are Tampa Bay's Mike Glennon or:

This guy. San Fran says he is the starting QB for 2016 but his agent (apparently) says his client wants a trade. Something is gonna give.

If CKap really wants out then the 49ers should sign RGIII and have him compete with Blaine Gabbert for the starting role, draft Oregon's Vernon Adams in the later rounds of the draft and trade CKap to the AFC.
