Being able to replace a red carded player after 20 minutes is a good one.

If a team loses via golden point, they can still earn bonus points for scoring three or more tries than the opposition in either regular time or extra time.

Wait, what? You can't lose in extra time and score tries. Someone's a bit optimistic.

I really don't think it's worth it, but am pretty ambivalent....if it brings more eyes to the game then good.

@Bovidae do kids still play forceback at school?

I can see A LOT of kicking out of your own end to avoid being penalised in a kickable position and then trying to force the opposition into a mistake in their own half (if you can get to them before they kick it back)

Could be a borefest for 10-20 minutes or however long it goes for.

    Let’s wait and see...

    Positive spin.

1 pt for the losing team is a joke if that is just a standard points allocation. A point for participation. 🙄

That might just be for golden point losers not regulation losers. A golden point loser by definition has to be within 7 points.

That crawling along the ground after being tackled has been ruled out.

    Breaking down the breakdown

The key focal points for the SpecSavers referees at the breakdown are summarised below:
    • Ball carriers will be allowed only one dynamic movement after being tackled.
    • Crawling, or any secondary movement other than placing or passing, will be penalised.
    • Tacklers will be expected to roll away immediately in the direction of the side-line. This will be a referee’s “number one priority” at the tackle.
    • There will be "extra focus” on the offside line with defenders expected to be “clearly” onside to provide attacking teams more space.

Sounds good but I can just see there now being an issue on how the ref decides if a player was tackled.

Agree. It was a fairly obvious change and it took too long to make it but thank god its finally been done

Yeah the tactical extra roll as your tackled needs to die in a fire!

Only if the tackler was still holding you when you went to ground...

Do you think they’ll revert back to 7.30pm kick offs if we move to level 1?

I know the main reason for the early kick offs was so teams could fly in and fly out on the same day but now teams would be able to travel the day before and leave the day after games.

@Dolamite selfishly, that would be fantastic (as long as Sky UK are showing this comp).
