Well you've also got Rugby AU negotiating for their comp kicking off in July - so I imagine that complicates matters.

I assume NZR and Sky had to do this in NZ as well. But I guess a bit easier to do when the broadcaster isn't waging a war on the rugby union.

Foxtel is really dragging the chain with all sports not called RL. They have been in negotiations with A-League football for months too.

Additionally, Foxtel has also reached an agreement to air the New Zealand Super Rugby Aotearoa competition, which starts this weekend, so rugby fans can settle in to watch more of the sport they love.

I haven't lived in NZ since 99, and over that time I've become way less passionate about Super rugby. Part of that is natural I think, just from being away. And part of it is because of a deterioration of the quality, a dilution of the product.

So now I'm back in NZ, and we have this little ditty of a comp to watch. And post-Covid sport starvation, I'm beyond fcking excited.

There will be a lot of NZ rugby on French TV this week (Canal+ Sport). Thursday : the three 1994 test series between the All Blacks and South Africa, and - of course - the SRA on Saturday and Sunday.
