I'll take 505 after that start.

Now the hard work begins. NZ will be into a lead by the end of the day, so its time for the GOAT to make his presence felt on a lifeless deck.

Wagner I think bowled to a very simple plan and it did very well. I would have said the short balls was a bad plan but they worked so I guess it was a good plan. If that is all Wagner has then I think he will struggle long term in the team. I think Wagner is a better bowler when there isn't much in the pitch.

Wagner with 6. That is such a typical Wagner performance. Bowling his fucking heart out for 30 odd overs. He is a brilliant 3rd seamer. I can't give the selectors any shit as I have backed the Bracewell selection, but in hindsight we have really missed his hussle with the old ball.

They'd be staring down the barrel of a much bigger deficit if he hadn't delivered. Great work from the Wag.

Goes without saying at least someone from the top four needs a really big score after some limp efforts, not only that but to get them at a reasonably decent clip too given we're right on half way in the match.

I actually think he would have a truck load more success if he played like he does in one dayers. Take the MCullum approach.

What's Guptills average against Oz now ? Overall has dipped below 30 now, just so at odds with the dominating bloke in the short forms of the game. It's like a different person.

That was a pretty sweet delivery from Pattinson. Guptill forced to played at it because of the length and it held it's line and then a late deviation. Got a just reward.

The deficit is under 100 now, that's a good boost psychologically. Williamson playing a Sehwag like innings compared to his first dig.

Guptill only averages above 30 against Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. He has played over 40 tests now. I think it is time to move on. I would back Guptill to get decent runs if we are at home against a weak bowling line up.

Apparently 17 batsmen caught in the combined first innings is a new record. Well done both teams :)

Pretty ugly reading those stats especially considering he's "dined out" on some shit to be fair, only Sri Lanka would have a remotely decent attack of that bunch.

Too right but he just wibbled (not wobbled) the bat at it and got the customary edge. He is a bit of a walking wickat against any sort of decent bowling

Aussie have been getting big reverse swing from 15 - 20 over mark. Crazy stuff.
