The UC Championship has seen the traditional cream rise to the top as the top four now consists of STAC, CBHS, St Bedes and Christs College. Ramgiora HS are in fifth but Nelson College have a game in hand in sixth place and could sneak into the top four after their midweek game vs Shirley's A Girl's Name.

I don't get to watch much first 15 rugby but did catch the Grammar versing King's match yesterday. Incredible skills from both sides. Doyle, King's full back had a blinder. He's pretty small but great to watch.

Sadly my team was pipped at the post but seriously good entertainment. Before I get any "silver spoon" type comments - I had a scholarship and even half price was tough for my folks.

It was actually compulsory to go to that game back in my day, not sure if it still is, but they had a huge crowd.

think it was the 5 for Kings, is the 2nd youngest of Tony Monaghans 4 boys.

Be interesting next year and year after, a couple of boys I know from up here are on scholarships to AGS, plus a couple others I know who were pretty handy players

ONe boy in particular an outstanding prospect, but needs to grow!

Excellent game. I thought the AGS Half Back & the Kings Full Back performed very well and have the skills to perhaps play at a much higher level.

                @Machpants I watched WBHS yesterday v Rosmini.

Boys got dusted, but geez they had some shit luck and decisions in the opening quarter (shoulda picked up 2 tries) and thier lineout was such that Rosmini could kick it out to get the ball back.

Thought Boys looked the equal of Rosmini for the most, but lacked polish.

Were camped on the Rosmini line for long periods but couldn't break through.

Liked the Boys centre and 7.

The Rosmini 15 has serious gas though, and the Boys 10 kicked it straight down his throat a couple of times.

Saw one absolute howler of a TJ call.

Rosmini kicked it, the Boys winger tried to keep it in, may have put a foot in touch.

One of the Rosmini coaches stalking the sideline convinced the TJ to put his flag up about 5 sec after the ball had moved on, Boys in possession.

About 6 or 7 phases later, flag still up, Rosmini turned the ball over, 2 phases, their 15 makes a break.

Coach on sideline line, oh it's just play on now, surely? Come on play on.

                TJ takes arm down.

2 phases later Rosmini score (which was the first score I think)

                Shocking.

Watched it as well as was stuck at home on sat and it was on while I was waiting for Aus races to start. Bloody ripper of a game.

Crackup how the kings lad celebrated all the way from the half way to the try line for that first try!

                    @Machpants I watched WBHS yesterday v Rosmini.

                    Shocking.

Was gonna ask what grade that was as Westlake (who I refer to as WBHS) played Massey but realised you meant Whangarei Boys!

Yup, WuhBuhHuz as my boy's there tell me🙄

It won't surprise anyone that the Auckland 1A comp has been cancelled/postponed this weekend.

The Super 8 competition games of 15/8 have also been postponed.

It looks like - at this stage - (some) CNI games may go ahead, but that may still change.

Given Ashburton/Mid Canty had scored 49 points in 8 prior games, that would have been a far bigger upset if they hadn't conceded a late try.

Goon High were in fifth or sixth and the Syrups have gone right off the boil (excuse the pun) lately, so not too earth shattering.

Amazing that STAC who are something like 9 from 9 could let Mid Canty Combined get so close. But then, St Bedes lost to Waimea Combined so maybe the traditional colleges lose focus and motivation for some of these games.

One-off competitions in the Hurricanes Region:

                                          Hurricanes Life Members Cup

Each member Provincial Union is responsible for determining it's team to compete in this 2020 knock-out competition for boys, with four "Wild-Card" entries to be selected by the Council's Operations Committee, from entries received by Provincial Unions.

The "Hurricanes Life Members Cup" celebrates the important role that boys' secondary school rugby plays in encouraging community participation by school-leavers across the many Clubs comprising the Hurricanes region. The intent of the Cup is to promote rugby within our Heartland and non-traditional rugby schools. Provincial Unions when selecting their representative should be mindful of this intent.
