i believe so yes. I think you need to beat them twice, they need to beat you once.

Also, take a second to reflect on the fact that, for the first time since the 96/97 season, the Spurs will not be in the post-season

which means, for the first time that i have been watching the NBA, i don't have a dog in the fight.

@mariner4life I'm kinda the opposite. I've been back into the NBA for around four years, which probably coincides with Steven Adams being drafted. But being a Suns fan I've had fuck all to cheer about until we made this run. We still may not make it, but at least it's kept the season interesting until late, bearing in mind that we also had a good start to the season and were never right out of it.

I turned off the NBA from the mid to late 90s until around four years ago so missed the Nash years. I went from watching a really good Suns team in the early to mid 90s to watching dross until this season.

Hopefully bigger and better things to come for Phoenix next year and on. Book and Ayton are franchise cornerstones and there are some quality pieces around them in Bridges, Oubre Jr, Rubio etc.

Heck of a run from the Suns. Not sure how much you can read into these bubble games, but momentum and team comraderie go a long way so this will havr been hugely valuable for them.

Reckon the Lakers would much rather have faced them that Portland though, assuming they get through.

Watching Portland vs Brooklyn now, expect the Blazers will win but the Nets aren't making it easy. Neither side is playing any defence though.

I've watched a bit of the bubble, and I have no idea who wins it all. The only team that is firing on all cylinders is Phoenix.

Now you'd assume a few teams are playing at 70% until they get to the play-offs (Lakers, Clippers, Bucks) but it honestly wouldn't shock me to see the Rockets, Nuggets or Celtics come out of the East/West. It could be a complete crapshoot.

I'm still backing the Lakers cos Lebron/Davis is the best combo in the league, but I have no confidence they can deliver.

pretty much everyone just seems to be assuming LBJ can just flick that switch again like he always does. The covid break and half-assed last few games should have him pretty fresh. It's just if at his age he can still just throw the switch.

If he can, they win surely.

Nets are up four with three minutes to play in the first bubble game with actual stakes. The non-Lilliard Blazers are launching brick after brick. Would be a bit of a choke job if they can't win it.

I would have loved a Blazers/Suns play-in, but you have to credit Memphis for the overall season they had. Expect Portland will win the first game but hope the Grizz give them a run.

@barbarian @mariner4life I've still got the Clips going all the way. I think Lebron still has the switch, and AD is one of the better 2nd bananas out there, but their back court is just a disaster. Unless Bradley comes back or they get the Rondo of 5yrs ago, I just can't see them having enough to stop teams scoring 120 on them. And i don't think they can rely on Green and Kuz for 20-40pg at the other end consistently.

Clips are just so deep, so many weapons at both ends.

Id like to see a Lakers v Celts final though. Expect a Clips v Bucks.

Or maybe Portland will beat LA in the 1st round...

I think Portland WILL beat the Lakers in the first round after they dust up the Grizzlies. They'll be battle hardened and have a ton of weapons in Dame, CJ, Melo and Nurkic. I certainly hope so anyway.

Blazers present some matchup problems for the Lakers especially with no Danny Green to play Dame and the Blazers have shooters.

LBJ and AD will do their thing but it’s on the defensive side where the Blazers could exploit.

Lakers going big - Javale, AD, Lebron, Kuzma, White Mamba - would be one way to deal with them.

Chicago Bulls finally fired their coach Jim Boylen.

                                      They really have cleaned house.

Will be interesting to see who they hire.

And finally Vlade Divac is fired as Kings GM. I'm not convinced Joe Dumars is better, although he was GM when he built that championship winning Pistons team in 2003
