@voodoo you meet those conditions don't you?

Its hard to say, other parts of the website talk about returning to your primary home in the context of it being in Auckland. But on the face of that section alone, which I'll be printing and carrying, it looks like it.

I just hate the way they keep on changing it though, it gives me no confidence that they won't change it again in a few days to explicitly rule out what we are doing.

@voodoo why would you travel into Auckland to catch a commercial flight to your primary home if it's in Auckland?

    Posh fluffybunny.

@Bones fair point. The 2 things that worry me are

    1. That the wording above is actually on the L1/2 Gov page, albeit it mentions L3 in the section too. Its not 100% clear when it applies. And

    2. Its a contradiction to the original Order, which says you can drive in if you live in Akl or you can fly in if youre transiting.

    Screenshot_20200820-070432_Chrome.jpg

I assume the guidance updates the intent of the order, but as someone said earlier, it all depends on the copper you get at the checkpoint.

In all seriousness, this stuff really can mess with your mental state. I'm not typically an anxious guy, but this year has been massively testing and I find myself losing lots of sleep over stuff like these rules and wondering if we will make it home. I can only imagine what it's like for someone predisposed to anxiety or depression, or going through serious health, family or financial issues.

It is pretty fucked up. One of my staff got told that she was going to be sent back yesterday (spend at least a week up north with nowhere to stay) and that was on the way back into the AKL region (which isn't because they have ballsed up the boundaries).

You would think that leaving level 3 would be tougher than going the other way, but common sense seems to have deserted us and the cop in question. All she did was go to an empty house under construction, saw no one (except the idiot cop) and return.
He backed down when she pointed at the two cops that had let her out and said that she didn't have her heart medication and had to get home. Was real police state intimidation stuff, and she was really upset. Technically she shouldn't have gone (I didn't know about it) but the cops should use a bit of discretion as well.

Oh, and is a "milky bar" a euphemism for a blow job because that that's how I thought women got out of trouble with the police?

Yep, but that's how you unknowningly spread disease. It really needs to be clear - isolating regions is damn hard

Given that there is none in our region they definitely could have done that bit better for starters. Hence the comment on discretion but I might be attributing to much intelligence to people and they just need black and white rules.

I'd still like to know why you can get out of a region that supposedly has the disease, but can't come back in from a region that supposedly doesn't?

@voodoo made it through the Northern border fine in the end - was the army assisting police, pulled up like a breath testing checkpoint, said the reason for the trip (going to Auckland Airport to catch a flight home to Christchurch), they asked to see something to show the flight, we showed the Air NZ app, sorted and through. Took about a minute since there were SFA vehicles travelling today. (I'm posting from Wellsford).

    @Godder good news mate.

AirNZ changed my flights AGAIN. Same day, but now a 6am outta PN then a 9am outta Auckland.

I'm going to overnight in Hamilton next Wed then attempt a border crossing on Thursday morning. Screw betting the next month of my life on a 6am flight from here!!!

Is it all booked as "One trip" make sure if you do that, they don't cancell all your flights if you "miss" the Palmy flight.

I've called them twice to confirm that I'm ok to do this, 2 different people said it was fine. Apparently AIRNZ is unique in this. Just as they are with their baggage allowance in that they give you 1 x bag, not [23]kgs.

I'l call them again and get my itinerary resent before I depart Palmy!

Well, got a text tonight now from our beloved government airline, my PN to AKL flight is apparently cancelled due to today's announcement.

I also got an email saying my flight from Napier was cancelled. That was a bit odd.

I've now been on hold with my lords for 30mins to see if my Sydney flight is still going, and am still waiting.

    Good times
