@Snowy Sauces. North London has lots of sauces. I've met journalists who have interviewed them, roadies who worked with them, shop keepers and waiters who have served them, cabbies who have driven them. The reputation of Pink Floyd is as being massive divas.

They are big mates with Jeremy Corbyn and supporters of the BDS movement too. Their uber left-wing, preachy activism matched with their personal conspicuous consumption is irritating. Roger Waters has shared a stage with known antisemites and Holocaust deniers. He claimed, without evidence, that Israel was to blame for the death of George Floyd. He accused the White Helmets of faking Asad's chemical strike on Douma in 2016.

Love the music, but can't stand them as people.

Cheers. I had no idea about any of that.

I don't read the "entertainment news" or anything like that so completely clueless. Actually as far as music goes, I buy it if I like it, if the artist is a knob so be it.

@Bones Is your unpopular opinion that you like that awful dirge, or that drugs do work?

@Bones In typical fern fashion I will argue (I could just stop there really), that they are popular opinions, both of them. Possibly even hot takes, in which case we would all be right and we don't want to go down that road.

@Bones Yeah, yeah, yeah. It leaves a pool of tears so I'll just Let it Be.

No future here if we all agree, was what I was getting at.

Modern Jazz then? That might be a popular opinion, not that we should stay on topic, never worked before.

I'm not a big Jazz fan but some of these people produced some great sounds. The BBC's top ten Jazz musicians - just so the distinction is clear about "modern"

    1. Miles Davis
    2. Louis Armstrong
    3. Duke Ellington
    4. John Coltrane
    5. Ella Fitzgerald
    6. Charlie Parker
    7. Billie Holiday
    8. Thelonious Monk
    9. Bill Evans
    10. Oscar Peterson

Bunch of clowns making shit up as they go?

Nina isn't on that list but was considered Jazz. So I'll leave it with this:

Need to click the utube link - dunno why it didn't imbed.

I’d expect someone with Palmy to have no taste so this post doesn’t surprise me at all

    Nice list. 99% awful 😉

See, that Nina Simone song is mostly OK until 2:26. WTF is the point of that shit? Ruins the song completely

Not unpopular (at least it shouldn't be) nor incorrect

One of the most unique and interesting bands I saw was the Preservation Hall Jazz Band in New Orleans. They played in a small hall that was like a sauna inside in the summer but it was cool to see 60 and 70 something cats playing.

Who knew there was a market for teeny cat sized instruments.

Used to agree, but two things changed me.

    The movie Whiplash
    The Cotton Club in Shanghai

Both are epic, and all about jazz.

I love Whiplash, I've seen it about 10 times. But it's great despite the music, not because of it.
