@mariner4life That track predates the hipster movement by 30 years. When @Tim described it as late period he meant late compared to his usual listening habits
this was peak hipster
mention you are listening to an obscure artist (yes he absolutely counts)
Specify that you are listening to a specific period of their work
sit back and bask in how original you are...while contemplating the ethics of beard oil

@mariner4life my bad I thought you meant the music was peak hipster wankery not the comment.

I have been listening to SWIDT for days now. Probably the best, most polished hiphop artist/artists NZ has ever produced. They tell stories with their lyrics and the production value on their music is as good as anything "quality" you would hear out of the States.

Chur bro, I'd never heard of them.
What's your thoughts on Avantdale Bowling Club? I saw they won plenty at the Music Awards - but from what I've heard so far, they're pretty bland. The Six60 of hip-hop (disclaimer - I've heard sweet-FA of Six60, just what I have... hasn't excited me). But - I haven't given them a "fair go" yet. -
@Kruse Not feeling them at all. They are trying too hard with whole jazz, J Dilla, Soul Aquarians type stuff. I like Common and the Roots but this, while it's trying hard to be something like a NZ version of that, conscious rap, it's too heavy. I don't want to listen to 3 minutes of flutes, xylophones, and classical bass finishing with a fucking sitar solo on a hip-hop record. Its like Donald Glover's last studio album. Then to polish it off I hate Tom Scott as an MC. He's similar to MC Pressure from Hilltop Hoods, here in Australia. They do not sound similar but in how annoyingly mediocre vocally he is. He sounds like he whines.
That said at least Scott sounds like a NZer. As good as SWIDT are they have very Americanised vocals. Personal favourites are 312, Little did she know, Conquer, All Night, The Code(old school Dr Dre sound) and Bunga(yes Bunga)

@MN5 I'd be happy to never hear "Rocky Mountain Way" again.
I do like "In The City".
Yeah definitely a case of the most famous song being the most irritating. Up there with Stairway to Heaven, November Rain and Smoke on the Water.
His other stuff is magnificent though.

Aaaaah so gooooood. -
@R-L Yup. That'll do.
Poor Keith.
