Brooklyn - last movie on my best pictures nominee watchlist. This is a nothing film. In certain parts it's a laugh out loud comedy and in the rest it's just what's the point? I know that lots of females like it and I'm unsure why. What is weird is that Nick Hornby wrote the screenplay yet aside from those funny parts it's completely dry.

One of the main reasons I watched Edge Of Tomorrow - the opportunity to see Tom Cruise get smashed over and over.

Just so happens its a great film as well.

    The Hunger Games

I previously thought (perhaps very unfairly) that this was Twilight-style chick lit but I really quite enjoyed it. If have a complaint it's when the actual competition started. I don't get how you can suddenly have a 6-man alliance in a competition where the objective is to kill everyone. It's not Survivor or the Royal Rumble. That Katness hardly smashed the comp either. That little black girl saved her life then the other chick decided to have a little rant instead of just killing her.

But yeah, am now looking forward to watching the other films.

You have probably seen the best of the movies. Not the worst premise for a series but they were not incredibly well written.

Out of curiosity I read all the books, weren't bad. But the whole Katniss being used as a symbol etc was a weird choice.
Rancid 'Catching Fire' is probably the best of the series.

The premise is really cool and I'm fascinated by the whole capitol vs districts thing. Don't expect a new GoT but was very pleasantly surprised by the first film.

Katniss is an emotional fucking basket case even before she goes to the games.

Watched Creed last night. Very good. I though Stallone was sensational in it, I can see why he got an oscar nom now.

I thought it was well done too. What is funny is that my memory had gotten the story a wee bit mixed up in the intervening years. The climbing scenes were pretty spectacular and confirms to me that I will never ever do that.

Emily Watson's NZ accent was god awful but I thought that Kiera Knightley's was pretty good. Jason Clarke was pretty good in the lead (of a pretty decent ensemble cast), I've been watching him since he was on Brotherhood and he's carving out a decent career for himself.

I watched it this week, enjoyed it, also as I couldnt recall how it played out, so was disappointed when it ended the way it did, although it does beg the question did the part with Rob and Doug play out as it did given both died?

I thought Keira was okish with the accent, kinda slipped in and out of it, sounded more Aussie I thought, but agree Watson was terrible as was the Dr chick they had, she was shocking!

You gotta wonder why people do that to themsleves, with such high stakes when the weather can be so fickle and the slightest error and thats it, although I guess its like most adrenaline junkies except the rush probably lasts longer.

Deadpool

Well, my expectations were high, and sometimes that's dangerous because they're unrealistic.

Not this time - that movie was everything I was expecting since I saw the first proof trailer (the opening scene in the car) a while back. Fuck that was good. The wife cringed at a couple of points but she had a great time, unlike her last Gold Class experience with Leo's Guy Who Got Fucked By A Bear.

Fuck Revenant. Seriously.

Those special effects (are they still called that??) in revenant were pretty cool though - got to see what a bear attack and a horse going over a cliff looks like

I'm easily amused

Oh and the regular Hugh Jackman/Wolverine references were funny as fuck. Particularly the mask scene at the end.

Just went in a weird direction, it could have and should have been on a similar direction to Lord of the Rings. As in big big action, massive conclusion all bets off etc.

Instead shes off with a handfull of camera men, director and a couple of friends. Little mission etc.

Maybe because it was all written by a chick?
