I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who at the very least doesn’t like a few of Phil’s songs. The guy is an absolute legend.
Hi, I’m Crucial. I could easily get by never hearing Phil Collins ever again.

@MN5 agree. Some of his songs are absolutely timeless.
Rick Beato named his drum fill on in the air tonight as the number 1 of all time. It’s pretty iconic. From the Gorilla to Tyson.
Read somewhere that that drum fill was inspired by Ringo's fills in "A Day in a Life" (he seriously rates Ringo's drumming) . What makes it sensational is the gated way it's recorded, insanely-good production and became a benchmark.
Some of his early Genesis playing is pretty outstanding too.

Just came up on a playlist. Forgotten how good this was, probably from the album being overplayed in the 80s
Great song and good album
But preferred Rattlesnakes. So many good tunes.

This is seriously tempting me to upgrade my creaking stereo system and invest in some SACDs..

@Victor-Meldrew one of advantages to listening mostly to music from the 60s is the minimal equipment gain from spending.
As long as the sound is clear and balanced it’s fine.
I can imagine the money pit that prog-rockers must fall into as studios were engineering for the highest denominator home setup -
The bulk of SACDs are for classical music and jazz artists but a lot of the "classic" rock and pop albums have been re-released as a SACD. I have a handful of SACDs myself and they sound great on my 2-channel system.
Remember you will need a SACD player, whether a dedicated CD/SACD player or a universal blu-ray player to play anything but the hybrid SACDs, so this might not be the wisest investment for only a handful of CDs. My audio gear is expensive so it's all relative.
@Crucial Recordings from the 1970s still sound the best. Clear separation of the instruments and not brick walled/compressed.

Still laugh at the nutter "audiophiles" with their "warmer sounding" gold-plated fibre optic interconnect cables though...
