    Great match for the non-partisan.

    More of that please.

NZ rugby the winner on the day (and South won)

Jesus, the McKenzie criticism is a bit over the top. As others have said he was involved in most of the tries, one bad error, and some seem to think he's worst on the field?
Meanwhile Rieko makes pretty much the same error, runs Reece out of space then throws a rank pass into touch, and he's best on the park?
The only difference I can see is that Caleb Clarke turned one of the errors into a try, but he seems to be getting a free pass...

Shit super season sure, but a good game last night.

Exactly. The reaction feels completely over the top, especially considering he was in great form before his injury last year. On top of that, most of the Chiefs AB's have been poor under Gatland this year (ALB another example who had a very average super season).

As you stated, most other players errors don't seem to attract the same level of criticism, considering Clarke was the major culprit for the conceded try yet no one seems to take any notice of that.

That pass to ground from Mckenzie happens multiple times in tests, usually just conceding some ground for the attacking team as they recover back a few yards. Clarke was the one that turned it into a try throwing a no-look speculator.

Mckenzie was clearly one of the most effective North players last night with one poor pass that multiple players throw during tests. Very odd reaction.

This Rieko fella would make a world class winger eh 😉

I’d have ALB and Goodhue in the midfield with a back 3 of Barrett, Ioane and one of Reece or Jordan.

Well he shouldn't be picked on the basis of his pre-injury form.

Yes it was a bad error from Clarke that directly lead to the try. He'll hopefully learn from that a lot quicker than DMac appears to learn from his errors.

I have been impressed by Selby-Rickitt. The best lock on the paddock was Sam Whitelock, but he came second best IMO. I still don't understand the Vaa'i's and Strange's selections.

I think its a matter of no one else.
Tupou Vaa'i is 20 ? Maybe they see a lot of potential there.

I thought Rieko looked like a centre for about the first time I've seen. He might turn into a classy centre like Tana did.

do we think Selby-Rickitt night need to few more games and time after his legal issues before he's honoured with a black jersey, wonder if the selectors wanted to avoid some questions when there is nothing riding of this squad

Vaa'i is a punt on the future for sure. Could pay off big time.

I'm not so sure about Strange but will admit to not paying much attention to him.

I was surprised with Selby-Rickett and he also looked to be a sizable unit as well. I have a bias over his off field behavior but he could still be worth watching closely.

Thought Scrafton looked like this was his top level.

    They didn't care last year.

I assume that Pari Pari Parkinson would have been ahead of Vaa'i if not injured?

The selectors have a hard on for Vaa'i. I think P3 might be fighting Strange for a spot (or all three would be there anyway)

Would’ve been interesting to see who made it if all locks were available. I assume S. Barrett would’ve made it with Whitelock and Tuipulotu.

Does Strange, Vaa’i or P3 get the 4th spot?

@ACT-Crusader I like the extra height PPP provides but he lacks a little on physicality at this stage.

Given that the AB squad was essentially selected before the game, Selby-Rickitt would have started ahead of Dunshea if he was a genuine chance of making the ABs at this point in time.

@Bovidae its always amazing how different people see different stuff in the same games, the first time i remember PPP playing for the landers he one on one tackled someone then held them up on his own...this might be why i always see the physicality and think its one of his main strengths

@Kiwiwomble As I said I rate him, but he needs to put on a few kegs to his lean frame to make himself a more effective ball-carrier.
