Unfortunately, Hastings Girls lost 10 - 27 to St. Mary’s College, yesterday, in the semi-final of the Hurricanes Rex Kerr Cup .

Napier Boys 2nd XV won again! They beat NPBHS 2nd XV 42 to 20. They're still unbeaten.

@Stargazer Not unfortunate for me though as my whangai granddaugters play for St. Marys! I didn't go up to Palmy for the game by the way but will have to be at Porirua Park for the Final against Manukura in a couple of weeks time.

    Just started:

    Super 8

    • Rotorua BHS v Hastings BHS
    • Hamilton BHS v Napier BHS

    Live on sideline app.
Being realistic, both HB schools may lose today.

    Also today:

    CNI
    Lindisfarne v St John's Hamilton
Rathkeale Coll v St John's Hastings

    Napier Boys squad:

    alt text

Napier Boys have taken the lead against Hamilton. Jayden Stok scored a try, which was converted by Afa Moleli. 7 - 0
Just as I type this, Hamilton scores. Napier leads 7 - 5.

Hastings Boys conceded a try to Rotorua, but have come back with one of their own. Don't have a team list and the person who keeps score for Tribe apparently doesn't either. Rotorua leads 7 - 5. Again, not able to post this before Rotorua scores another one, extending their lead to 14 - 5.

Edit: the score now suggests the Hastings try was converted. Didn't see it. 14 - 7.

Terrible jersey clash in that Rotorua v Hastings game. It's hard to distinguish the teams.

The hole in Napiers' defence is costly. Hamilton in again. 12 - 7 Hamilton

Converted try to Hastings! 14 all. The momentum is shifting in Hastings' favour.

And damn it, again when I'm typing that, Hamilton scores in the other game. Hamilton leads 19 - 7 at half time.

That's also the half time score in Rotorua v Hastings game: 14 all.

Or at least, that's what I thought. I thought the first half was over, but now they're restarting and don't seem to have swapped sides. I'm confused.

Shit, can I get any rest as well? Hamilton score early in the second half. This could get ugly, just like in Hamilton's other games.

    26 - 7 Hamilton

Ethyn Martin has some of that headless chook stuff that Dmac has. Moving a lot, sideways.

It's a pity Napier isn't playing a bit better. New Plymouth just lost to Gisborne.

Hamilton get another try. No TMO in these games; it would have been worth checking whether the Hamilton players was in touch. It looked like he was.

    Hamilton 31 - 7 Napier

Hastings has had so many chances, but didn't manage to convert those chances into point. Rotorua gets one opportunity and score a try.

    Rotorua take the lead: 21 - 14

Same in the other game now. Napier Boys were parked for almost 10 minutes near the Hamilton try line and Hamilton only kept them out by offending. Despite all the penalties, the ref didn't give them a card. Now, finally out of their own half, Hamilton score again.

36 - 7 Hamilton, defintely a score that flatters Hamilton a bit, although they're clearly the better team.

It's funny, for the last few years, I'm always hearing the same female voice scream "Go Hastings" from the sideline. I wonder whether that's Devan and Cooper's mother?

I did expect two losses today, but still disappointed, of course.

Rotorua finished their game with a drop goal.

    FT:
    Rotorua Boys 24 - 14 Hastings Boys
    Hamilton Boys 43 - 7 Napier Boys

The Super 8 final should be Hamilton Boys v New Plymouth Boys in Hamilton.

Will there be a Hurricanes play-off, this year? I know the Top Four has been cancelled, but can't remember anything about the regional play-offs.

If it goes ahead, the semis should be between Napier Boys and the Wellington runner-up and between a challenger and the Wellington no. 1.

The challenger might be Palmy Boys in that case, who beat Hastings in Super 8, but I remember from previous years, that there was a play-off game for that challenger spot, so Palmy Boys and Hastings Boys might have to play each other again, if that's the case..

    @Stargazer

I watched about 15 mins of the 2nd XV game between Hamilton and Napier. I understand most of the scoring was done in the 1st half but Hamilton won 30-12, so a good day. Payton Spencer is the 1st 5 for the Hamilton 2nd XV.
