Sorry you're playing someone to play your game??? It's not like your character gets more stuff the higher level you are in Overwatch, unless it's changed a lot since I last played it!

    EDIT: Oh a spammer.

Well, I'd rather he released Half Life 3, for NZ only, than a virtual concert.

Gabe Newell has been a 'COVID refugee' in New Zealand since March

And he's putting on a concert to thank the country.

That's Mr Steam, for those that don't recognise the name

Anyone else play microsoft solitaire/freecell while in video meetings or while listening to podcasts?

They recently introduced obnoxious video adverts for other games with the sound on by default. I found that adding the following entries to my HOSTS file blocked them:

    api.taboola.com
    ads.aerserv.com
    api.vungle.com
    srv-2020-08-02-09.pixel.parsely.com
    pixel.parsely.com
    static.doubleclick.net
    bam.nr-data.net

@Tim I never used to get ads playing Solitaire, now I get them all the fucking time. Either Vegas slots (which I can turn sound off) or some Empire thing that I can't. They are very annoying cos they are super loud.

@Mokey Yeah, I got those ones and they were driving me crazy, but blocking those domains got rid of them.

Quest2 has just been announced. Significant upgrade from the Quest 1 and at a rumoured price point of $300.00 USD for the 64GB and now a decent collection of games with some big ones to come out this could be the one to get VR our to the masses.

My Quest1 has been an absolute god-send during lockdown. 6 months now in the same 4 walls, its nice to jump into a game with duel shotguns in some futuristic arena, take out some aggression and then afterwards have a bit of a yarn to your opponents and team mates from across the globe.

I’ve put in for a pre-order for the HP Reverb Gen 2, which has the best resolution out there. Quest 2 popping up now has made me reconsider if it still works as easily with PC as my kids Q1!

Any ideas for anything like that paperclip game to "play" online/in-browser while at work?|
I've just started a new job, and have nearly 10 hours of "Mandatory Compliance Training" videos/courses to do. And my Fern "Unread" page is already empty - so I'm fucked.

@Kruse Kingdom Rush is a cool browser based tower defense game - pretty cool and easy to pick up/put down.

Currently I'm frothing about Baldurs Gate 3 early access coming in late Sept. If only that excitement was enough to carve out time to play it lol.

    @raznomore said in Gaming/VR:

On quarantine I have gone from being a dad that plays Call of Duty badly to having an average of 40 kills per round on team deathmatch. I am now better than my son and he hates it. My daughter is only marginally better and than me now. But shes plays all day every day while shes off work and studies.

Great thread. How have I missed this ?

After getting routinely arse raped by both sons at Star Wars Battlefront 2 ( to the point where I’m more embarrassed at myself than proud of them ) it was really cool to get Call of Duty as a bit of a change of pace and see them a bit humbled by not being Jedi or Sith and getting fucked up every time they charged at the enemy. Telling them to be patient, tactical and sneaky as opposed to gung ho was extremely satisfying.

Of course now they’re better than me ( and this pisses me off cos I was quite the spacies guru back in the day ) but I still feel I taught them some things.

@MN5 I am still killing it on multiplayer but I absolutely suck at warzone. I have had a few lucky games, even winning a couple. But I usually die in the first 5min, go to the gulag win back in and then hide out until the end. The best I’ve done is 5 kills In warzone. My daughters boyfriend annihilates everyone. It’s great to watch and demotivating at the same time.

@Machpants It looks pretty impressive! The QMS feature of HDMI 2.1 will be handy.
