This is the sort of team I expected Foster to pick. Playing it safe and not rewarding form at all, apart from maybe Ioane at centre. Are the All Blacks really going to innovate themselves by picking the same old crop?

@Canes4life I don't even think it's safe. Goodhue isn't a 12. Jordie is a great fullback and the one time he played fullback for the AB's it was only against Italy.

Makes sense now why the Crusaders persisted with Goodhue at 12 a Foster plan by the looks of it.

What did we expect with them just passing the buck to Foster instead of taking the applications for the top job seriously?

It was a bullshit decision to appoint him head coach and he'll provide plenty of bullshit selections like this where he picks favourites over form.

Wallabies coach is significantly better than ours.

innovate?? innovate?? when was the last time the ABs were about innovation? The ABs now are all about continuity of intellectual capital.

If fucking SBarrett was fit he would have started, and it would have looked even more like last year.

When you look at this team, you can see that we’ve really fallen off a cliff in the last few years (say, since 2015).

We’ve got some oldies hanging on, some newbies not being given the chance, and a mish-mash of quality to make up a very 1999 fit-in-all-the-best players back line - except they aren’t even necessarily the best players.

And, for someone who said he’d pick specialists, how many players are not playing in their absolute specialist positions? What a farce.

And even though he got tries he was a fish out of water with DMac having to spend most of the game coaching him where to go.

Waiting for these coaches to justify how this team is in line with their promises of 'form'. It is seriously, bafflingly fucked.

Must be some message down the line Goodhue is now a 12.
Then if that’s not the case someone else is running the show not Foster otherwise DMac would be there too.

We are going to play the same ol' same ol' this Team does not suggest that we will dominate at the breakdown, I'm not surprised in the least. I thought he would chance his arm and play a mobile pack.
Just reminds me of the World Cup semi loss to England we were dominated at the contact area, I was hoping for some innovation.

And Will Jordan had the best offensive stats in SR Aoteaeroa and he still opts for Bridge????

He went the conservative route that I had been expecting. I had thought it would be the same backline as the semi, but I guess given that Jordie was in that 22 and ALB will be available off the bench he is not taking too many risks. Like I said in another thread he does not have many tests to play with , he has to win early to have any hopes of getting his contract renewed.

Yeah - spot on, I think.

Fozzie is about making sure he wins his first test. He's not too worried about winning in style. He's gone a very conservative route, that could pretty much only have been more conservative if he'd gone with ALB and Goodhue in the midfield.

Though, in all honesty, it's only the selection of Jordie on the wing that is the giveaway.

Well, hopefully he gets his win and will be a bit more daring next time!

we're in a bit og a hole. Hansen was lauded for his ability to bring in youngsters and trust them. But that is piss easy when the core of your most important players are veterans and first on the team sheet guys. Half of them are also in the "best ever" category. SO effectively the selecting was "pick the GOATS and fit new shiny bits around them"

Now? The veterans are on thin ice. There is barely a guy in the 15 who is a walk up start in everyone's eyes. And yet we persist with the same selection policy.

It's 12 months since a complete embarrassment and yet here we are. Same coach. Same players.

                                  I am so inspired.

the specialists are on the bench!! limiting the options? seriously this selecting is retarded.

Bridge plays left wing and Jordan on the right.

But, yeah - it's a pretty uninspiring wing combo.
