I would've put money on Jordan making the 23. At least Sotutu is, here's hoping both players impress when they do get the chance. Ardie and Beaudie should be fighting for their natural positions, not being shoehorned in when they are perfect utility bench players.

On this concept of the team being "safe".

IMO the "safe" team is not necessarly the team that is most likely to win.

Picking a team that is "less likely to lose" is kind of a pussy way out of taking a risk of trying to win, and conversely makes you more likely to lose because you're less likely to win.

That made sense when I thought it through in my head. Think it still does, but I'll leave it to youse guys.

We don’t really know though do we. Some these guys have experienced the loss of England but have another albeit disrupted season under their belts.

Some brand new players in the match day 23 and around the squad also can have a positive impact too.

Nothing is safe about this squad in my opinion (whatever that means). It doesn’t even have a “I’m worried about losing” feel to it either.

      Bring on the Convicts.

I can understand getting both Barretts on the field at the same time. Although the ballsy option would have been keeping Beauden as the super sub. Jordie has been immense playing in that position this year.

Lets face it Jordie has been very sketchy at test level, no ways Foster was going to leave Beaudies experience on the bench in his first outing. If we see poor decision making from Jordie hes getting pulled quickly, would no surprised to see ALB,Goodhue with Rieko on the wing fairly early in the game.

@DMX true regarding Jordie, but it looks like he ate Aaron Smith during the off season and the weight not only added confidence but also made more effective tackles and breaks... opinion of course but Jordie looks different this year.

@bayimports on Goodhue, he hasn’t played one game at 13 this year as far as I can remember anyway. Much to my dismay but he has been at 12 all season.

@ACT-Crusader sure but based on form at 12 none of us would have picked it, feel sorry for ALB. I think most of us here think he has played his best at 13

I like ALBs game, not as much as @mariner4life but there is something safe about him that is reassuring. But there is something that could be special with a Goodhue / Ioane midfield if both iron out a few issues. A definite work in progress and a risk to boot.

Just reading the caketin isn't sold out, 5000 seats available, first time since 2012 (in wellington )
apparently, people still a bit cautious

Ticket prices look stupid when folks can go and watch the game at the pub for the price of a beer.

If there are any unsold seats, I hope they invite some Wellington school kids to attend for free.

Bridge is the boring, safe selection I was worried about. And picking Savea at eight is the other obvious mistake (not even in the top three eights in the country)

Fozzie is trying not to lose, not actually win.

I'd guess a few might get snapped up late but really it's a combo of cautiousness/uncertainty about crowds, time of year (lots of household garden type work to get through to tidy up after winter plus kids go back to school the next day and parents tend to feel like they need to get organised for that ) and cost (Adult and two kids is about $150 for crappy seats, plus food and drink at inflated prices)

That was the 1987 RWC back three. Wright replaced Green permanently in the starting XV from 1988.

While I think the ABs will win comfortably, there's a real Wallaby feel to the AB XV: just picking the most talented blokes without much thought to the number on their back.

I really like Savea, Goodhue, Rieko and JB as players but it does look a bit odd seeing them picked where they have been. That said if it all clicks they could run up a cricket score.

@MN5 or Guildford. All of this talk is yucky. Has Reiko still got his hairdo? Might as well speculate it's the first time we've had a blonde midfield

Apparently there's no "safe" brown players or "explosive" white players.

@barbarian mate, I reckon I'd be feeling quite refreshed as a wallaby supporter.
A new broom and culture with fresh players keen to build something. Exciting rebuild ahead if you can just keep your rapacious fish head administrators at bay 😉.

Process more important than outcome at this stage

It feels like you've got more to look forward to short term than us as we see if foster can truly be his own man

Gone are the days of going to the local pub, getting a beer, a bus to the game, ticket to the game and bus back to the pub all for $10.

You mean pounds right? Not dollars?
