He’s become a parody of someone trying to parody Nicolas Cage.

I think I’d watch Steven Seagals latest offering before this.

The Outpost - based on the true story of an American base in Afghanistan...imagine you find the most obviously indefensible spot to put an army base, well that's where this is set.

3.5 The Taliban are coming out of 5 we need more ammo

Just watched this in the cinema this afternoon. I think this was pretty well done in that the early scenes made it seem like one of the Afghan docos (Restrepo, Armadillo etc) that are out these days. It was crazy when they got up in the morning and actually saw where they were for the first time. Such a WTF moment.

I think it was only slightly ruined by Son of Clint being given too much rah rah US dialogue at certain points but I'd agree with your rating.

Will try and source the book now.

I had another go at Blade Runner 2049

Really well shot, Ryan Gosling is awesome, hot holographic chick is terrific and Harrison is nice and grumpy old mannish as we expect......

But it's way too talky, high brow and thought provoking.....not in a good way. Depressingly "film noirish" ( More rain in future LA in a week or two than it's entire history ) and a couple of action sequences just can't save it. It makes ya think but christ, a movie like AI with Jude Law ?!?!? blows it out of the water in terms of that in my opinion.

    Airplane!

Like most comedy movies of this era, it crosses the line so much that they could never make it today. Genuinely, one of the funniest, if not the funniest movies ever made. Fully of classic slapstick, one liners and sheer comedy brilliance.

5 I'll take it black, like my men out of 5 that's not important right now.

Le Mans '66 (or Ford vs Ferrari).

Bloody good watch, despite Bale being terrible. Seems playing a difficult to work with, unlikeable Pom in the USA is ironically a bridge too far.

4 is he brummie out of 5 no I think he's northern or maybe mancunian.

Check out Grand Prix from 1966. Bloody good

@Victor-Meldrew I'm not very good with "older" flicks, but sure, why not.

Did you like the original? I actually preferred this one ... but I find the scene everyone else loves in the original (tears in the rain) to be comical.

Parts of it......potentially amazing story lost cos the director had to try and introduce more film noir wank.

I sort of wish I enjoy them more than I do cos I'm a massive sci fi geek.

Of those types of flicks Top Secret was always my favourite. Would Blazing Saddles be a 'parody' style film? If so that would edge Top Secret for me.

I think with Airplane they actually based it on a serious novel.

Airplane 2 is also pretty good. Shatner's door scene is one of the funniest things I've seen.

No, it’s a remake of a disaster film. Pretty much the same beats with the gags inserted.
