@NTA Yeah I said that on the super rugby thread. You guys can front up with 23 good players at test level but once a season starts the quality dimishes, with injuries, paternity leave, etc.

We have some better players at the levels below, but as you probably know - build a decent NPC system and you will have more depth. 3 Super sides above that gives you more competition for places so that improves quality. I believe that the Aus problem is systemic, you have the talent.

@Snowy Not for this thread, but, NPC is impossible in Aus. Tyranny of distance.

@Derpus Yeah, living on a massive continent is an issue.

@Snowy @Derpus I don't think its a massive issue when the playing talent is clustered around two cities, really.

Unfortunately those pesky Canberrans (both of them) want a team in the draw and Perth... well...

If Rieko wants to be a centre then we have to judge him as a centre, rather than his body of work on the wing. If that's the case then no way he starts ahead of ALB and JG, he's just not in their class yet despite his obvious talent. He's on the bench for mine, coming on in the final 20 to get some experience in the position and wrecking some havoc. We shouldn't move him back to wing as he will never settle and realise his potential in the midfield otherwise.

At the moment we simply don't have a world class right winger. Jordan has the attributes but there are questions marks over his defense. So Jordie it is for now, as much as I'd prefer him at 15.

Wait what? You’re applying one rule for Rieko and then ignoring it for your boy JB.

Not quite - Jordie is filling in at wing, not a long term prospect there IMO. Rieko is up against two very classy midfielders. I think Rieko has the potential to be one of the best in the world like he was on the wing, but it's going to take some time for him to develop there at the top level.

I don't see why he can't play on the wing in tests, filling in like Jordie, while he's developing his midfield game at Super and in lower tier tests. He was the best wing in the world a couple of years ago.

Is it official that Ardie and Laulala definitely won’t play in Bled 3?

Semi. They'll join in a week or two. Make of that what you will

With the way JB is defending on the wing, it's definitely not defence keeping Jordan out.

@Bones just in case we get a 60m penalty opportunity deep in the game...shame we dont have some way to start others and let him come on in the 2nd half, where he would likely make an impact

Yeah I think that's more likely. Jordie is really coming into his own throwing his big giraffe body around and being a bully too and I think they probably like having that aggression out there, but he doesn't fit their midfield and his brother is a legend at 15.

Oh yeah, JB also seems to be used a lot for pen kicks to touch which is interesting.

The hit he put on their prop was brilliant. And was it him that unloaded on Koroibete as well? He wasn't the same after that

@canefan I remember the one from ALB. Jordie leaves his wing open too often though which I assume is what people see with Jordan. I haven't noticed it.

In the Welly test I noticed that, but I’m sure Beaudie took a couple in Auckland.

Oh yeah, it was ALB, totally unloaded on him and he shelled almost every pass after that

I am not sure anyone is attacking my post so I thought I would defend it: Goodhue is good at 13. Don't like him at 12.
I do however also like what I saw of PUJ and Rieko-good problem to have.

We have too many Barretts and not enough positions to fill

Jack throws some high quality shade though.
