@antipodean you can only contradict an opinion if it's made by yourself? I think we are done here.

Are any of the following diametrically or mutually opposed?

It's actually pretty hard to gauge what NZ actually want. is it competitive teams, or locally sourced talent, or is it new markets, or Pacifika team based no-where near any of it's 'locally sourced players'?

You do realise you can have locally sourced talent that's competitive? A Pacifika team can be based with locally sourced players?

promissing, if they showed all the super games...id only have foxtel for the AB's and NPC...so would have to really think abut it...i have a pub about 100m away

could be a play to get more people interested in rugby, if they didn't have to pay to watch it

Ah fuck... just heard that three of our younger guys want to have a crack at Premier Division next year. We didn't have the best year due to COVID and a bunch of coaching shit that went down, so retention is going to be key to launching into 2021.

Oh go jump, the lot of you. It's not the message, it's the messenger.

Would you guys like some tips on cricket success from Brad Haddin?

I don't have time for Hansen. I find him a miserable, condescending prick. Maybe that's just me, but whatever.

@NTA he's the one I told you about a week ago!

Good player, seen a fair bit of him at club and obviously for Northland, could do with a few kgs on his frame, but not afraid to throw himself about and has a decent turn of pace.

Think he will be the 3rd lock to be picked up by an Aussie super team from here.

@NTA cant recall the other lock that went from here to the tahs (he had been at Leinster prior I think) seemed to disappear but Pat O'Connor was the other, went to the Force first then Tahs.

edit: Cam Jowitt was the other one

@taniwharugby - Pat O'Connor, top bloke. Good player although not quite top level at lock.

Played for Aus U21s. Now there's something we don't get to hear about anymore ...

@antipodean - I know what you mean, although it seems he played for Robbie Deans in the Top League before the Covid cancellation in March. Will still have a bit of a connection to the game as the face of a new schoolboys rugby comp in Perth.

And in other Perth news the Force have picked up a new forwards coach, John McKee:

Just watched a very tight elimination final in Sydney Premier Rugby between Northern Suburbs and Eastwood, played at times in pissing rain.

Was9-all at full-time, with a penalty the difference after 100. Tough, wet weather footy and no tries. Props earned their money today

The Nine Network is set to become the new home of rugby with an announcement expected to be made as soon as Thursday.

The Australian understands Foxtel’s 25-year association with rugby, which took it into the professional era, may come to a close with Rugby Australia leaning towards a deal with Nine.

That agreement is expected to see Super Rugby matches and Wallabies Tests live on the Nine Network and Stan for the first time next year.

On Monday, Nine Entertainment newspapers reported the network was close to signing a multi-year deal with RA. Previous reports stated they had offered to pay about $30 million a year in cash and free advertising.

Last November, Castle walked away from Foxtel’s $40m-a-year, five-year offer for the broadcast rights (Foxtel is part-owned by News Corp, publisher of The Australian). Castle was pushing Foxtel for $100m more.
