White House Down is Tatum and they do burnouts on the lawn. It's such an awesome flick.

Myself and my wife both lost it completely when first seeing Michael McIntyre. In my view, he's possibly the funniest man on the planet. We showed my parents, and they didn't laugh once.

Both my parents think Mrs Brown is hilarious. Me and my wife watched it and didn't laugh once.

Comedy is indeed, very subjective.

Id be interested in seeing that too, seems like a decent enough guy but not exactly a comedian.

Russell Brand is shit. I had that opinion even before he became the millionaire champion of the downtrodden.

I'd heard he was hilarious so tuned in to see him on Conan Obrien or one of those shows. Didn't even chuckle. He was apparently hilarious in Forgetting Sarah Marshall but I must have seen a different version.

Adam Sandler is boring now but was great back in the day.

Mrs Browns boys was good for a couple of smirks, not much more. Haven't heard of Michael McIntryre.

Laptop ran out when on holiday with the better half in the rapa over the weekend so we watched Black Books which we found on the DVD shelf. Now THAT was a good series, funny as fuck although I've heard the two blokes ( Dylan Moran and the one who plays Manny ) are poor at stand up. Again, subjective.

I never liked Russell Brand either RS, the whole "I have a geezer accent but I'll use big words to show I'm an intellectual" schtick got tired really fast. I've heard he's a colossal cocksucker in real life to from people who met him but were let down.

is a clip in the Parents thread by Michael McIntyre which I think is pretty damned funny, haven't seen too much else of his to form an opinion.

I watch Live at the Apollo often on TV3+1 when I cant sleep and some of the 'comedians' are so shit, I reckon MN5 could do a better job and he is as funny as a 5 legged dog, however there are the odd one which are hilarious, so I seek out more of them, but it turns out some of their other shit is un-funny.

So yeah, pretty subjective, and I guess topical as well makes it better/worse sometimes too.

Kiwi comedians are a bit like our musos though, the odd genius interspersed with a whole lot of absolute shit. No where is this better typified than Seven fucken days, it's like they have a pact with eachother "ok, this probably isn't funny but if you laugh your head off at my lame gag I'll do the same for you"

The best thing that Russell Brand ever did was storm that building on London, so a true literary genius could write this:

Michael McIntyre doesn't really tell jokes.

He tells long rambling stories which basically rely on observing the minutiae of everyday life for their humour.

He's also quite good at physical humour but again its about observing stuff that's all around us every day that strikes a chord with people that have never really thought about it until just then.

I totally get why some people find him as funny as warm sick but he's the highest grossing comedian in the world so there's plenty who obviously find him hilarious.

I'd tag along to one of his shows but wouldn't go out of my way to see him.

I can see why people may hate McIntyre. His face and voice are incredibly annoying. His piece about kids is absolutely brilliant though.

IMHO the king of comedians is Dave Chapelle. Best since Murphy.

Oh yeah, back in the day Lenny Henry was supposed to be funny. I hired one of his videos because of the hype. It started off slow, maintained that pace and ended with him singing or some shit. The quote on the back of the video claimed he was up there with Eddie Murphy. I can only assume he meant EM from Doctor Doolittle. Now that was a shit film.

Chappelles show was sensational. Charlie Murphys true Hollywood stories and The ****** family are the real standouts to me. I also liked the doco when he organized a block party, seems a really nice bloke too.

Eddie Murphy pretty much stopped being funny the moment the 80s ended but Raw....Delirious.....Trading Places.....Beverly Hills Cop.....Coming to America.......that there is a collection of comedy genius.

Reckon my favourite comedian at the moment is probably Louis CK, loved his piece at the Oscars and find his stand-up really good too.

I saw the kids piece..did nothing for me at all. But I don't have kids so maybe that's got something to do with it.

Agree on Chapelle, HalfBaked was my favourite stoner movie, not sure if it still holds up now..

Can't go through this thread without mentioning the boys from Broken Lizard. Super Troopers is their undisputed masterpiece but Beerfest and Slammin Salmon are top quality comedies too.
