Tasman v Canterbury

Every little brother knows when the going gets tough, big bro will step up and show who’s boss

Bring on Auc...
-
A master class in terms of doing the basics well ..that was as comprehensive as it gets ..
-
I find it convenient that Ta$man are having a “bad game” playing big brother facing relegation.
-
Canterbury for the title haha

Yep, very convenient at home from the Ta$man Invitational XV indeed.
Bugger.
@Donsteppa it's Blenheim Don. They stink up the amalgamation like Waikato does to youse fullas in that pre season comp

@Donsteppa there’s no love lost between these 2 unions, hell will freeze over before one of them lets each other win.

I’m about as surprised by tonight’s result as I was two weeks ago at Tauranga Domain!

Actually, that wasn't our worst performance this season by a long stretch.
Game really swung on the missed touch by Hunt that McKay scored off and then the intercept just after halftime. Until that a comeback was manageable and we probably had enough ball and field position to have been able to do it.
Points didn't come.
The lineout was a disaster and Canterbury had their best performance since Week 1.
I miss our 2019 team, though!

@Donsteppa some very random things happening ..where do you guys play Waikato ..?

Fonotia was so good that he got subbed as a sub.
Injuries have been a big problem in this round.
@Bovidae Yeah - meant to mention that. Sione Havili wasn't right after the first minute and losing Nankivell early as well disrupted things.
Canterbury turned up to play though, so credit to them - and Romano particularly.
McKay was excellent as well.
Cameron had the best game I can recall from him - not flawless, but he was better than Hunt.
David Havili was probably our best. Talea was decent after (I think) missing the tackle that let in the first try. Far too many kicking errors from Hunt.
Finlay Christie tried hard - there's a line from your third form report!
The lineout was so shit that I find it hard to say much positive about the forwards. The scrum was OK until Makalio left - but, I think he turned over possession several times in open play. Sione Havili on one leg might still have been our best forward.
And another edit: Fonotia was poor. Very poor.

Over in the Tron. I’m not expecting a win out of that one, but the form book is almost out the window this season, so fingers crossed....

Dirty cheating Ta$man Invitational XV...
Not bitter .... really lol

-
Hmmm not looking forward to our trip to the garden city next week after that Canterbury performance. That was a massive statement made by the boys from Addington.
-
From an Auckland perspective, a positive from this game was that Canterbury did quite a bit of damage to Ta$man's PD.
@Dice I don't think we can go past you unless there's a three-way tie at the top. Pretty sure the first tie-breaker is who won the game between the two teams.
If I were you (or Mex), I'd expend my psychic energy on trying to thwart Harbour from coming 4th!
