Some very good names overall, but

    Cricket without Smith, Waddle, Coney
    Cricket with Sumo Stevenson

... adds up to me delaying a Spark Sport re-subscription until the very last possible moment.

Waddle is hilariously grumpy when you actually meet him. When I worked in media he threw a classic tanty when the Microwave didn’t work.

But by golly him and Coney made long car rides enjoyable with their chat.

@MN5 And you enjoyed the rain delays as well when they simply "discussed" things whilst awaiting play to resume.

Kiwi at the helm of the ICC that is most definitely not, and never will be a corrupt organisation.

    seriously, though, good for him.

Waddle and Coney missing reminds me of the disappointment when Billy Ibudullah was canned.

Coney by far the best analyst of the big picture.

@nzzp I can't recall that I've ever heard of him, but this...."and is a former board member and chairman of the Northern Districts Cricket Association" certainly doesn't surprise me.

Not content with merely taking over every aspect of NZ cricket, these feckers are taking over the world.

@mariner4life The Mako are doing the same in NZ rugby, but it's a bit bigger and more complex to line up the ducks - so we're slipping behind ND.

But, we've nearly got the Auckland domino ready to topple (with Agents Leon and Kieran largely running the show up there) and once that one falls our way the momentum will be irresistible. 🙂

sounds like a bit of BCCI 'leaning' on SA and WIndies.

After A Bitter Contest, Greg Barclay Becomes Cricket’s Chairperson As Mighty India Tightens Its Grip

After A Bitter Contest, Greg Barclay Becomes Cricket’s Chairperson As Mighty India Tightens Its Grip

Greg Barclay was elected cricket's new chairperson after a bruising contest as mighty India get their desired candidate.

Still reading the article, but are we a shill for the BCCI now?

Edit: sounds like BCCI didn't like the Singaporean
He’s well respected and liked testament to running unopposed for deputy chairperson twice previously. The BCCI don’t have a personal vendetta against him, according to sources, but wanted a tighter grip on cricket and more bilateral series which suits their financial model.

Watching Auckland Wellington at the moment.

Sumo is a decent bloke, but has no clue about the game. The female commentator knows her stuff by comparison, thank goodness

Too soon. I recall him being quite a solid player, who didn't play that many tests

    Shit - sad news.

That's waaay too soon for John Reid the Younger.

Excellent player of spin and good enough to make a hundred against Australia in Brisbane!

Could have played many more tests for NZ if he'd wanted to.

I always put John Drake ( ex ab prop) and JF Reid in a category. Way unsung but incredibly useful, successful and valued by team-mates and those in the know. Retired too early as well

And now I add died too young to the category. Our cricket coming of age in 84/85 etc was in large part due to patient well constructed centuries from John Reid at first drop.

Best NZ player of spin ever
