Worst Magpies Import Poll
-
There was the other lock from Christ's college I remember playing him at school then he was later a magpie. Maybe saffa name to. Six foot 10 or so. Believe he was a flop but can't remember to what degree
-
@Stargazer The names keep rolling in!
-
Well, I stuffed this poll up - maybe the mods can tell me how to edit it? Or we can make this the nominations thread and in a couple of days I'll put a new poll up?

To me, Mike Coman does not belong in this thread as I actually rated him.
It's my poll and I've eloquently justified his inclusion.
I'm tempted to add Lamborn now.

I can't even remember Luke Rooney.
He played one game when he was really bad (looked like a league player who didn't really know how to play) then got injured in his second game I think.

Lucky you. Some of us will never be able to forget him.

Ok, so thought I should figure out how to do a poll one of these days and the continued selection of Koro Baker in the Magpies this year gave me the perfect opportunity.
Marvin Karawana: Ex leaguie who shopped himself around the provinces, no one picked him up, not even the Taniwha as @taniwharugby will frequently remind us. But the powers that be at the Magpies ignored the wise men in the rest of the country and picked him up. He wasn't the Wainui SBW he was touted to be.
Kurt Baker: 7s superstar who played with grit and guile and a short fuse. However by the time he arrived at the Magpies all he had left was the short fuse. Looked ponderous in comparison to the young on the up backs who surrounded him.
Luke Rooney: His CV is impressive, he played for the Aussies in league, even bigger than that though he played Origin the greatest game on earth, no scratch that, the greatest game in the universe. Played two very crap games of rugby for us before getting injured.
Mike Coman: Now, some will quibble with his inclusion in here, and I've likely sent @Chris-B into a fit of rage (who am I kidding, that's 90% of the reason he's in here), but he was all hype over substance. Always got talked up by the media but really was nothing more than a poor man's Michael Johnson. If he was playing today he wouldn't get near the Magpies squad, hell he'd probably be reduced to watching Hugh Renton from the stands in Nelson.
Ben May: Now, I don't dislike May as much as, say @higgins, and I think he was a decent journeyman prop with a lot experience. But, he was clearly only a Magpie because of the Canes, and what makes it worse was that the Canes would trumpet him as a Magpies player in the Canes, when he was really a Canes player who the Magpies were obliged to play.
Ben Franks: A top prop, so what's he doing on the list? I don't think the dude could find Napier on a map. Another Canes plant in the Magpies. Looked disgusted to have won the Ranfurly Shield and couldn't even be arsed walking over for the team photo.
Ok, so there's the options, apologies if I've missed any standouts - was sticking to recent players and my memory.
@Nepia You bastards poach Coman, May and Franks from Ta$man and have the absolute sauce to then start a thread rubbishing them.
I want the Mighty Kahn included in the poll as well!
Hawkes Bay - the only Mitre 10 Cup team to have an opera named for them....Il Gazza Ladra - The Thieving Magpies!!!

@Chris-B Coman disliked Ta$man so much he would rather play for Canterbury and Hawkes Bay instead.
He is quoted as saying he knows where his moral compass is and isn't willing to get paid in paper bags and doesn't need a new boat. That probably explains why he went elsewhere.

Now back in Ta$man running the family construction company!

I will not have you insulting a Wainui player, actually he wasnโt even that great a prem player ended up being moved to 6 later in his club career...anyway my vote is Dan Kirkpatrick what a flop that guy was
