Lots of these sorts of posts around at the moment

shit I would love to see that and yeah, Stan would work
they could even do it as a holo communication, not in real life, might explain away less than perfect CGI and be less of a sin than recasting
It's funny, I can't imagine anyone other than Mark Hamill as Luke but I was perfectly happy with Ewen McGregor as Obi Wan ( Alex Guiness was excellent as well of course )
That’s because Alec was an old fart. Someone playing a younger version is generally ok, but not if we’ve already seen a younger version. Han Solo is a good example (what a stooped idea for a SW film btw. Nobody wanted the Adventures of Young Han). Same if they were going to do a young Leia again.
Well, if it was a considerably better film it might have worked !
Maybe, but it was a film nobody was calling for. Was even more odd that Harrison Ford was only 34 when SW was filmed and they’d just killed the character off.
you might not be enough of a nerd, I saw a lot of call for a Han movie, from right back in the 80's, he was easily the most popular character in the OT. More than that they set up the legend of the kessel run in the OT...and then delivered it in the movie
how good the actual movie is is a different issue, I liked it, the actor was too "smooth"...not rough enough for meI was interested in the Cassian series, the description I saw was smore of a spy thriller, hes not a great fighter, more sneaking trying to subvert the empire, more jack ryan than han solo
There would certainly have been interest in the early days and then with Ford coming back. But did anyone really want this with another actor in 2018 or whenever it was? Or rather, there are a shitload of other things fans would prefer to see on screen that this.

@Rancid-Schnitzel yeah, I think a solo movie was number one of the list (maybe toss up between that and obiwan) or spin offs people wanted as far as I saw

Yeah that might work come to think of it. Mando alone has given us loads of overpowered hand to hand fighters ( as did Rogue One ).....someone more human might be a nice change
-
@MN5 Rogue one kind of set up a couple of different directions, its had its sneaky aspects too, the empire right on their heels
I have in my head Mando is gun slinging out on the outer rim and Cassion is sneaking through the underworld of Coruscant, maybe the both share the odd "heist" episode

Rogue One he implied he was an assassin and his actions were more espionage than kick ass. It would be a totally different feel to Mando as you say.
Whatever they do Mando has set the bar very high. No new projects should go through without Filone giving the green light first

@canefan Ahsoka hinting Thrawn could be its own series
this is nine or ten years after we saw them in Rebels, I want to know what they've been doing...they've set so much up
another thing, the "Ghost" was in the big fleet in Rise of Skywalker, so its still being flown 20 whatever years later, still by the same crew?

I saw a thing today discusing Filoni saying that the Ashoka Rebels ending may have been after we see her in Mandalorian, so it may not be as lined up as we think. As least that prologue could have been later that we think.

@Kirwan really? cant get my head around that, do you happen to have a link? might have to go back and watch the last episode again

All I know is that the response to Solo was less than lukewarm while the announcement of the Mandalorian resulted in millions upon millions of throbbing horns. But obviously Solo wasn’t helped by the abomination that was TLJ and the subsequent comments by Rian Johnson et al.
Ultimately people just wanted a good story with good characters. Mando has delivered where the sequel trilogy failed miserably.
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel yeah, it wasn't received well but I saw a lot of excitement when announced...up until all the drama during production
it has like a 69% score so far from a flop, especially compared to the RoS...now idea how LJ scores so well

I actually enjoyed the film. Bad juju from the trilogy and probably oversaturation of SW films at the time along with weird release time worked against it. But there were some good scenes
-
Solo was a good film, not great and had creaky moments, but it was fine. @Kiwiwomble is right, there was a lot of excitement around for it beofre hand.
Then TLJ happened and all those silly "The Force is female" t-shirts worn by Kathleen Kennedy and there was a minor backlash. I think people are judging the film more on it's own merits, and less on the politics and the firing of the directors now.
Would love to see the original cut, they had nearly finished the film when KK fired them.

I don't remember that stuff, obviously the director change and all the talk about an acting coach coming on for Han
I really liked the story, even has a set up at the end...he just wasn't believable as the loveably rouge, voice like a gravel road Han solo

Solo suffered by having a pretty shite bad guy. I wanted an Alien, not Jennifer Connollys hubby with red lines on him.

@MN5 I think he have been seen as not bad if the teaser at the end had turned into a sequel, Crimson Dawn with Maul and the different alien crime families...that would have been cool
Yeah but they way they shoehorned Maul in seemed rushed.
It had some cool action scenes, the kessel run and the train bit were decent.
-
@MN5 it was just a teaser, I thought it made a lot of sense after watching Mauls arc in Clone Wars...how he gets to where we see him in Rebels is also a cool story
He's one of the most fleshed out characters in start wars, if it was marvel making these we'd get a Maul movie going from the end of Cloe Wars to the start of Rebels and we'd see that scene from his perspective
