These arsehole scammers wreck lives by targetting vulnerable people with this sort of stuff and with fake virus scams. Almost scammed an elderly neighbor out of £300 a few years back
There's a whole community of anti-scammers taking these arseholes on. They get access to the scammers PCs , work out who's running the scams, steal files showing who's been scammed, wreck scam call centres and work with police and banks to get the money back. Def. the good guys. Search Youtube for Jim Browning Scammers
Another scambuster called Peirogi has some hilarious videos and an alter-ego grandmother called Vivian Rogers. Worth a watch.

A judge has directed the 83-year-old dementia sufferer should be freed, to take effect in three months to allow time for somewhere to be found to care for Vincent.
In 1968, he pleaded guilty to seven charges of indecent assault and was sentenced to the open-ended term of preventive detention.
Today he would probably avoid going to prison completely.
EDIT: Heard on the radio that the assaults were on young boys, so no way he'd have avoided prison.
“He has been refused parole at least 48 times, most recently on 19 August 2019. He is apparently New Zealand’s longest serving prisoner.

@taniwharugby my first thought was that removing this fella from his lifelong, safe environment into the care of a strange place and people would be about the most stress you could put him under.
This isn't an act of kindness. He's not going to skip about delighted at the modern world infinitely elated by his new found freedom.
Another fine example of the "saviours" making themselves feel better to the detriment of the victim.

Suspect a prison may not be the best place to deal with this:
"Vincent had stage five dementia and a range of other health issues. He appeared not to know his name, did not talk clearly, had no self-care skills, and required help for all his daily activities."
