first test starts this arvo. Day/Night test should be fun.

Australia, for the top side in the world, have some serious issues. At this stage their opening bats look like being a converted keeper who averages 30, and a guy who dead set cannot buy a run.

They will be followed in by the guys expected to score the bulk of the runs (with some justification i might add, their records are ridiculous). The middle order is new or not great.

They are a team built on 4 fucking good bowlers, Smith, Loose Bus Change, and Warner (as long as the game is in Australia).

Right now, if an honest Trans Ta$man XI was put together, we are contributing a decent number of players.

    So 7 out of 11 ?

In other words pretty much any great cricket side ever ?

Enjoying this. Pujara looks like he's settled in, but the contest with Lyon is intriguing.

Slow run rates can be an issue, but with this indian battling lineup they can blow the game open in a couple of hours. Thoroughly enjoying the radio commentary, too -- their love for cricket shines through.

I just can’t wait for Boxing Day when I can ( hopefully ) sit on my arse and channel surf between the two test matches.

It’s even worth doing the lawns at the crack of dawn just so I have more couch and beer time.

Can see why Aus is excited about Green. 21, tall, greata ction, just cruises in and chucks it down up to 145. Insane.

And, it seems, bats well as well - batting in the top 6 I think today, and cricinfo says averaging 55 in FC cricket.

    Pujara just fucking shot himself.

Inside edge not out and he motioned to start walking so the Aussies reviewed. Their appeal wasn’t that intense.

bit harsh - he was walking because it sounded so out coming off the bat. Surprised it was not out on initial decision!

One thing I would like to see is clarification of the drs aroudn teh super faint 'noise only' decisions. I am not at all convinced they are totally out, but there is no benefit of doubt to the batter.

    GOM thread time.

I'm not sure that applies in Australian conditions and in a day/night test.

The Aussie bounce causing Indians problems.

also, Lyon is a hell of a solid bowler. To trouble indian batsmen wiht offspin with a pitch not doing much is outstanding. Again. So so consistent

If you're watching the Ch7 coverage did you hear that journalist from the Australian talking? What an utter fluffybunny.

I think it was telling Ponting just stopped talking. The journalist was just a rude fuckwit. And he scoffed at Ponting. Scoffed at one of the best players in his country's history. Who was right on what he was saying!!! What an utter fluffybunny.

You've obviously missed 2020. Aren't you aware now that journalists know better/more than about absolutely everything than anyone?

Why on earth would a journalist expect to listen to a mere player??

Geez Rahane's run out of kohli was very very ordinary.

Just the ultimate yes! No! Sorry...

Interesting to hear that about Lalor, generally like his work. Also a real bleeding heart lefty which puts him at odds with a lot of other journos at the Oz.

It's an absorbing test so far, great to see a pitch that has a bit in it for everyone. India were made to work for their runs, but stuck to their task admirably. I wonder if the Australian top order will be able to show similar restraint. 300 looks a pretty decent first innings total if they can get there.

Kohli's runout changed the day, i thought India were on top at that point given how late it was. Runs on the board are good, but those last few wickets swung it Australia's way. First session this morning is crucial

Reading some commentary this morning. The difference in the level of insight provided by Ponting and Michael Clarke is startling. Clarke is a simpleton better suited to the matey dipshit Ch9 commentary days.

Tragically I only have access to Fox commentary at the moment, and it really sucks. One of the reasons is they kept the same producer as in the Ch 9 days (Brad McNamara), and unsurprisingly it's the same matey rubbish
