Catching or lack thereof has been shocking from India

Deservedly cost them what should have been a very large first innings lead - Paine would be long gone.

This will be the fourth time Paine has been top scorer in a Test

An amazing display of bowling by India. They've seized the initiative in this match and must be firm favourites to go 1-0 up.

I genuinely wish I had the time you guys did to whinge about test cricket commentary.

Highlights at best for me now. Commentators totally secondary.

this is a new thing for me. It's been more than a decade ... got to have kids old enough to be self sufficient, and the time to be able to watch a bit in the background.

Last time India was in Australia they took a test and a half to get their tactics right and went on to win with judicious batting and specific line and length bowling.

This time they've hit the ground running from the first game. The preparation of this particular Indian team is unique. Awfully, it's the opposite to what NZ did for their tour of Australia.

But for some straightforward grade cricket level catching, the Aussies could have been completely fucked. Credit to India for out playing the home side at the venue and pink ball that the Australians are so successful at.

But you never write them off, they always show something when they look vulnerable.

It's a great test with lots more to come.
Interesting that due to the proliferation of flat even wickets that we have to change the ball and playing hours to get a game where 250 is equivalent to 450 at Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne in a daytime game.

I love these tests where you know 20 wickets will fall before 5 days. The smaller totals make every ball more intriguing

Two sessions could be critical in determining how this Test will go. If India score freely and head into the night session 250 ahead, the game could be largely gone. It's going to be tasty anyway tonight, I can't wait

Conflicted. Need Aus to thrash India over the series for NZ to make WTC final.

    But.

Like seeing tourists who actually put in the warmup prep get rewarded

And in the same breath the Aussies could conceivably take 4 for 40 and it swings again!

    Fucken great innit!

Rain stop play I guess. Sky is showing highlights of all the wickets from a previous game.

Just turned the TV on to see 19/6. I presume the highly paid Indian top order never left the hotel this morning and sent the tail enders along instead?

@Donsteppa one of those being the night watchman, but with Kohli and Pujara gone, you'd have to think the bulk of their runs already left

Was Ashwin out? No hotspot and the noise seemed to be from before ball was alongside bat.
