I think NZ would be ranked 3rd behind Australia and England, although England has been the big improver. NZ did beat Aust 2-1 in a T20 series in NZ earlier this year. A great effort from the White Ferns as they had a horror travel schedule to arrive in Nagpur.

Womens cricket is hardly Tennis or Beach Volleyball though is it ? take away the perve factor and it's just a bunch of people bowling slower, hitting shorter and fielding less athletically. Comments I've seen online ( admittedly most of them on Stuff ) are just the typical "Suck on that ozzie" type shit from people who couldn't name a single player in either side.

I think Women's cricket is a little more open to variable results because its still largely amateur - and T20 is geared for upsets even in the men's version. That (and Ellyse Perry, and Holly Ferling) made WBBL quite watchable.

So its very hard to put a ranking system on that. I'm hoping the professional status we have here in Oz now will allow more women to get into the game, with more physical training, and lift the standard.

Incidentally, does anyone know why they don't use the DRS in T20Is?

I have wondered the same. Don't want to slow the game down maybe? It really should be one review each.

Guppy gone for a brilliant 80 but nobody else has done much. We need more from the rest of the lineup to convert these starts Guppy is getting us, frustrating.

Rosco takes 16 from the last over to get us up to 180, which is about 20 runs short of where we should be after our start. But, it's a good score and Pakistan's strength is their bowlers so I'm not too unhappy.

Sticking my neck out here and saying we'll get this at a canter. This is not an easy pitch to bat on, more like the Nz/Aus pitch than the SA/Eng one. Guppy, Herb, and Ross were outstanding.

Pakistan away to an absolute flier, and are odds on to do this at a canter now if they don't self destruct. Opening with Santner was a bad call on a pitch offering little for the spinners, just got them on the front foot early.

that over (16th) from Sodhi was terrible. But on paper great. Maybe the over that wins it, but jeez it could have been 20 runs & no wicket

I'm just glad I was able to successfully undo TeWaio's jinx.

Pakistan has been a bogey team for NZ in previous tournaments so it was good to get over the line.

I wonder if changes will be made for the Bangles game? Guptill left the field with tightness in his hamstring so it might be sensible to rest him for the SF.

With Black Caps now qualified, that means two of Australia, India, Pakistan are going to miss the semis.

Australia still to play India and Pakistan.

It will come to the second to last match(?) between India and Australia. That is now the match of the pool stages. I'm tempted to get up to watch.

Don't think so.

If you watch the match it was only a good slogging innings by Sharjeel with the field up in the first 6 overs against mainly pace bowling that got them away to a flying start. Once the fielding restrictions ended and we introduced spin on what was a big ground especially on the square boundaries they could not hit boundaries. When they tried they were caught on the boundary. With only 1 ands 2s they couldn't get any big overs in the last 10.

That is why it was such a good innings by Guptill as he did what Sharjeel did but kept it reined it in and kept going after the first 6 overs when the fielding restrictions lifted. Ground was a good one for him with his straight hitting meaning the big sqaure boundaries were not an issue. Good innings by Taylor at the end as well although a bit streaky.

Shows what a stupid decision it was that Guptill was not picked up by the IPL. He is if not the best 20/20 batter going certainly one of the best. His record is phenomenal. They put up a statistic about most runs scored in 20/20s. He will easily overtake Mcullum soon in way fewer matches and has more runs than Warner from about the same amount of games.
