what does this mean for Boxing Day?

    It might last 3 days?

    Sportsbet:
    Aus 1.08
    Draw 11.00
    Ind 23.00

    Says it all really.

Is it wrong to enjoy that short sentence as much as I do?

@NTA can you keep us updated with any amusing cases of Indian fans losing their shit on the Wisden page ?

Australia have Warner to come back. The question is: where? If he takes an opener's slot, I suppose it is likely Wade misses out. The other option is to squeeze out new kid but I think that would be a waste - another guy who can hold a bat AND bowl 140km/h at the top of off should be tried again, if for no other reason than to see how he pulls up.

Wade will be the unlucky one. Green won’t be left out of this side any time soon. There’s an outside chance Head misses out and Wade returns to the middle order. Not likely though.

Is Pucovski available? I would select him ahead of Burns but I doubt Langer would.

    Gross generalisation.

    Dude. It's The Fern.

    All Aussies are fluffybunnies.

    It's true.

In a year of fuck all sport, they decide to turn the second innings' into a T20 match - and a pretty poor one at that! 🙂

Some nice sound logical criticism there. I wonder if he’d be interested in joining the fern ?

Last I heard, with the extraordinary number of concussions he's had (not all related to cricket), I'd say unlikely.

After all, when India A are doing this to #11 batsmen, who would risk it for an opener? Right @Kruse ?

    Dec 11, 2020

Australian cricket has a concussion problem

Australian cricket has a concussion problem

Argument made to ban the bouncer

A third Australian cricketer in four days has suffered a concussion, with the most recent incident resulting in New South Wales quick Harry Conway being ruled out of the remainder of the match between Australia A and an Indian XI.

The 28-year-old last night walked out to bat at number 11 late on day two in the SCG fixture and copped a barrage of bouncers from Indian fast bowler Navdeep Saini, with one delivery thudding into his helmet as Australia A scrambled to 108.

And while Conway continued batting until he was run out for seven, he later began to experience symptoms of delayed concussion and was replaced by Queensland fast bowler Mark Steketee.

Former Australian Test cricketer Brendon Julian was left mystified by Saini's onslaught against Conway.

"From India's point of view, I don't really see any reason why you've got to keep doing (the short balls)," Julian said on Fox Sports' coverage.

"I reckon they've overdone it with the short balls... There's no upside to this.

"It's all about just getting hit at the moment, and that's why you just declare, bring them in and say, 'All right, let's have a crack at them'."

So now my hopes of Australian cricket team schadenfreude is over (a large degree of my angst for this 2 dayer was the high of watching the champion, and self effacing, Aussies on the ropes - hopefully like when Aussies watched the ABs vs England last year). That same warm glow.

So, now I've switched allegiances, what are the permutations for a trans Ta$man showdown in covidville?

    Clean sweep?

    Some runs or wickets calculation?

Do our results vs pakis count?

Anyone got the scenario that we can cling to?🙂

India has a possible 210 points from 7 games left to gain. They need 150 to make the final. 30 for a win and 10 for a draw.

If Australia win 2-0 and we beat Pakistan 2-0 then it will be an NZ vs Australia final.

So. India must have another 4 tests after this series still to play. Presumably a home series v someone. Guaranteed 120 points probably.

    NZs weather a big hurdle.

    120 points per test series.

    Divided by how many tests.

So NZ v Pak is 2 test series meaning each win is worth 60 points each. 20 for a draw.

India v Aus and India v England are 4 tests series, each win worth 30 each. 10 for a draw.

    India on 360.
    NZ on 300.

Actually. All that ^ may be out of date.

Because of covid, not all series can be played.

Table is based on percentage of wins. Can see in link above Australia is on top with less points than India but leading on PCT column.

tis the season. Sometimes I look back on past posts I've made and shake my head and sometimes I can't even blame alcohol !

This result is fucken massive though, forget the usual lame aussie bashing, if anyone puts the intensely unlikable India in their place then they're alright with me. As @NTA and I laugh about frequently, their fans are a very "special" breed indeed.

Can a team possibly comeback and compete in a series when they get bowled out for THIRTY SIX ?

I'll be following the two tests on boxing day with eager anticipation.

Big lounge TV and laptop. As our test starts first the Aussie one will get relegated to the latter I think.

So Shami out too now with a broken arm.

Do India stand any sort of chance now? (I hope not as a 4-0 thrashing would really help us)

I feel like this series is a win win for a neutral. It's equally satisfying to see either group thoroughly humbled.

Yeah dunno. Until the next Brad Haddin shows up it's pretty tough to really dislike the Aussie team to be honest.

Smith cheated and has ridiculously unfair stats, Warner can be a bit of a dick. Aside from that there's not much to go on.
