Airlie Beach mofos.
Palm Cove peeps ( @mariner4life country * )
- unfortunately missing him as he heads South ... But jumping on a Mariner made tour tomorrow ...

BTW it is an immutable law of nature that no matter where you apply sun screen prior to a holiday activity in the sun, the bit you miss will be the the most sensitive bit and be the bit that is most exposed to the sun.
As an example, say you hypothetically go on a jet ski tour, hypothetically wear shorts which cover your upper thigh, so that area does not need sun screen, but of course the shorts hypothetically ride up while sitting on the jet ski ... that would be quite sore ... hypothetically ...

Further update...
... need to work on Mr Boo Jr's Geography. We've been talking about going out to "The Reef" when we're up at Cairns. Wasn't until she saw a sign announcing The Great Barrier Reef Drive that the penny dropped. D'oh. (She's good at English though.)

Enjoy tomorrow @booboo

Hopefully the Palestinian and Jordanian don't both just bring hummus and bread
Hopefully the Palestinian and Jordanian aren't both thinking "hope the Kiwi doesn't do Pavlova - it's just meringue and whipped cream FFS. Yeah and isn't it dinki di Aussie anyway?"
Yep! You need to do a rolled shoulder of Christmas lamb, @Nepia!!
We're already doing a roast chicken as the "main" - plus I live in inner city Sydney, like I can afford lamb after paying my accomodation costs.
I've got 2.5kgs of rolled pork loin going cheap...comes infused with the Northern Beaches Rona
Hahaha, I'll head over grab it, get tested, go into iso and sit at home for Xmas playing PS4 but well stuffed with pork.
Just checked it on the ferry for you bro, and I threw in one of these that I spotted at my local Coles today - you're set!
Sorted.
So made my pav last night - spectacular failure. I last made one when I was 13. I knew I shouldn't have followed in online recipe that called it The Great Aussie Pav.
I'm going to give it another shot tonight, but I'm going to grab a Harris Farm/Coles one as a just in case back up.
Should have said I'd bring boil up.

@Nepia Make a fucking trifle. Much easier and a better result.
I'm not a trifle fan, and obviously this dessert is for me - have ingredients to make peach pudding/caramel royal pudding so will make those if I balls up tonight's pav. Had a read online and think I know the issues.

Looks like Santa will be on his way shortly. Dr Fauci has vaccinated him to be safe (since Santa Claus is hundreds of years old, probably wise), and given the general lack of Covid-19 in the North Pole, the Director-general of Health has issued an exemption from quarantine. The Air Force has published his flight manifest, and Norad will be tracking his progress across the world. NZ Post has been getting the Christmas letters to him, but apparently Covid-19 has disrupted supply chains a bit, so some of the deliveries might be a bit less than in previous years. However, with the Christmas miracle that is the fastest production of a vaccine in recent medical history, apparently Santa has been busy anyway (I'm sure he had something to do with it...).
Merry Christmas*/Meri Kirihimete to everyone, stay safe, and enjoy the day as best as we can.

Oh God
A few years back we hosted a NZ themed Dinner party with a kai moana starter, Colonial Goose main and a Pav as desert. Not have made a Pav for years, we did a trial run using my mums old recipe.
It was only after the mixer motor started giving out a burning smell did we realise we had mixed up the sugar and egg white amounts.....

We've given up on making our own puds and just buy a top-of-the-range supermarket job.

No
EdmundsEdmonds Cookbook? Never made a pav but make killer meringues ... assume it's just a bigger splodge on the baking sheet?I do recall some advice from @Crucial (pretty damn sure it was him) god knows how many years ago about not using plastic bowls and utensils. Something to do with fat remaining remaining attached to it and fucking up the structure of the fluffy eggs.

An ice cold virtual schooner to @mariner4life for helping us out with the tour today. Satisfied customers all round in the Boo household.
She's a pretty good day huh? Managed to satisfy the olds (me and Mrs boo) and the cynical 17yo.
For those interested Mariner's company run a couple of tourist attractions in Kuranda in the mountains above Cairns, and organise tours up via the Kuranda Scenic Railway, and down via the Skyrail, a massive fuck-off gondola high above the jungle.
Whole day is well worth doing if anyone is up this way. Very much recommended.
Thanks for the help with that.
Won't bore you with weather details (@MN5 )
