I'm not near a TV. Anyone report on how the pitch is playing? Do we look likely right now? Gonna be a long day

@canefan the pitch is looking fairly dead with maybe the odd one keeping a bit low. Pakistan holding out well so far. We probably need Satnav to step up.

Pitch seems to be playing fairly true.

Santner looks about as threatening as a sofa. And now has an injury to his bowling hand...

He's made a few good plays, but as a bowler is concerned Mitch is a waste of space

@MN5 @canefan Santner bowling about as threatening as we expected, and not even keeping it tight.

    Absolutely should not be playing.

The new ball is going to determine whether we win or lose this game, as not a lot doing with the old ball.

No pressure Mr Southee & Mr Boult.

Southee's last 18 tests have stats as good or better than Shane Bond's career of 18 tests.

Santner must have the friendliest looking action in world cricket - it's like a net session/throw downs.

I've said this before but Mitch is a deeply flawed selection at test level. He's basically there to give us a bit of batting insurance, but it's not needed with our current crop of players. It's such a defensive selection and it does my head in. A 42 average with a 96 SR is laughably bad stats after 20 odd tests, he's nothing more than a part timer with the ball.

    Pakistan's last 4 batsmen average 14, 6, 4 and 3 in tests.

We just need a couple of quick wickets now and the tail should be pretty mop-uppable!

I think he's also there as bowling insurance - had Wagner been unable to bowl, Santner would have been bowling a lot more.

If CDG is fit I guess Mitch is out. Even so, on our pitches we could and should play a more attacking bowling option. Even though he has a 100, Mitch can only dine out on that and be framed as a legitimate batting option for so long

Santner is a waste of a place in the test team. At least Mitchell can land the ball in the same place consistently...

Would be an average of 45 now given he went in with 44.

Because hes such an integral part of our white ball cricket, I actually feel a bit sorry for him each time they put him in the test team. Not an ideal emotion...

Pakistan doing really well here. If they hold on, could cost us a chance of going to the test cricket final.

    That said, outstanding rearguard

Well done Fawad. Well deserved century showing patience to snatch a draw for his country. One wonders would he have done so against the Australian bowling attack..?
