@dogmeat we left "Santa's milk" which is baileys a mince pie and a carrot. When I was a kid Santa liked Brandy, guess his tastes change
And not only do we leave a carrot, we have to sprinkle bloody "reindeer food" outside too which our local farm shop threw in for us, was just oats by the look of it.
Love all the fun of it though!

This might be a test for those old enough to remember the 1980s ... it used to be a christmas thing (at least in Oz, I'm guessing maybe NZ also) to put out some booze to thank the garbos emptying the bins. Probably meant they had to do extra trips to collect especially if there were full beer cartons.

Obviously the days of physically lifting bins are no more - so it doesn't really work well now. But some still give it a go.

Been known to leave a 6 pack for garbos who work on Christmas Day.

My stepfather used to work for the Council in Wanaka cleaning up on New Year's Day - he says he and his colleagues used to do quite well out of forgotten stashes.
