3 catches landing in front of the slips & still not moving forward. Pure stupidity 🤦‍♂️

On top of the edges falling short McCullum was talking about the keeper moving closer due to the late swing to cut down the angle. BJ had a tough day but could have made it easier on himself.

Not to relitigate the Test XI, but Smith would have moved forward... 🏏 🎣

Not sure which bowlers in the Smith keeping era were getting the sort of bounce and swing that we see from the current crop of NZ bowlers... 😉

Sounds like someone needs to read ‘Rhythm and Swing’ by the Sultan of swing Sir Paddles Hadlee

Slow start so far from Tom squared. Sounds like conditions are pretty tough.

Not sure we need to take those sort of risks for singles

20 overs before Williamson has to come in isn't too bad.

    @KiwiMurph

Three more balls until Taylor is pretty shit though.

It's now 53/2 and if they get another wicket it's advantage Pakistan.

I'm blaming Sumo for it too; he was pissing on about how well we were doing.

There’s something comforting about these two here to steer the ship though. We’ll be fine.

I’m never comfortable until Taylor gets to at least 20

@MN5 Hadlee could definitely swing it, but it’s the bounce that forced BJ’s hand and Jamieson and even Henry was getting plenty.

@ACT-Crusader In the West Indies, Hadlee bounced Joel Garner 5 times in an over. He didn't use the bouncer much, but he could do it. Danny Morrison also didn't bounce people that much but could.

Edit: Bond was obviously also pretty quick, but agree that our current crop would be the most consistently fast we've put out.

I vaguely remember Lance Cairns playing, but no clear memory of his bowling. I gather he was another 80's bowler who could get the ball to talk on occasions.

About now Pakistan are very happy with their first innings score, especially having been 83/4 at one stage.

Same, but I do remember it was a very unorthodox bowling action.

Hopefully these two can steady the ship.

Strictly medium pace but that unusual action of his used to allow him to get some very late inswing. As a kid I would try to copy him in back yard cricket with a taped up tennis ball.

That and his excalibur bat with no shoulders made him a culture hero. And all those 6s of course

It's amazing how much swing you could get with a fully taped tennis ball. Better yet to only tape half of the ball.

I had Malcolm Marshall's bowling action mastered.

Bond was consistently in the 150s. Outstanding bowler... and really accurate too. Bowled one side of the wicket. Despite Tim's recent form, I'd take Shane in a heartbeat
