    I am a killer

Awesome show, very interesting. Each episode is an interview with a killer inside an American prison. Fascinating to see them now, footage of them interviewed when younger, victims family being interviewed etc. Obviously loads of them have found God and seem pretty philosophical and reflective on what they've done. Also none of them seem irredeemably bad, quite a few seem pretty normal but often victims of a really shit set of circumstances.

I nailed FIVE episodes in a row, not ideal the night before my first day back at work haha !

Mike Judge's Tales from the Tour Bus is one of the best things I've seen in years. All those country music boys were degenerate motherfuckers.

Extremely entertaining and well edited. Recommended.

Where did you watch this Tim, sounds great

Had to get it from a torrent, as no NZ streaming services had it.

Just finished the Queen's Gambit. As a kid I loved playing chess with the old man, I enjoyed the series immensely. The main character was easy on the eye as well, always a bonus

@Catogrande Worse, I'm an academic. In a practical field though (STEM).

It should be easy enough to find a torrent.

Just watched Barbarens (Barbarians - German produced Netflix)) and Queen's Gambit. One was purely entertaining once you went past the dramatic license that had to be applied, and the other was beautifully filmed, had some nice expository touches and left me wanting more despite a very clean conclusion. I'm not a huge chess person, I can't play for shit but I know some of the history opf chess and thankfully this was not some re-telling of Bobby Fischer which would have left me reaching for my Luger, but some classy acting and atmospheric detail that killed.

Barbarens is sort of Centurion meets King Arthur but thankfully was made by ze Germans so we do not get American accents featuring at all.

Binged Barbarians in the last couple of days. Not bad at all. There is actually a huge monument to Armenius in Germany which I’ve been to.

And even one in the US as well. There was also a decent doco about him a few years back. Certainly an impressive historical figure who seems to be largely unknown outside of Germany.

Started watching 'The Vietnam War' on History Channel. 2017 doco on eponymous war.

Fascinating stuff for someone whose understanding was as a child of the 70s watching the news (and not understanding), 'Apocalypse Now', 'Platoon' and 'Tour of Duty'.

Watching it seemed a bit Ken Burns-ish... And guess what? It is.

Goes back into the origins of the conflict, being French colonialism, expanding to resistance against the rise of communism post WWII, to the US kind of getting involved by accident and supporting the despotic South Vietnamese regime because they were not Goddam Commies.

Paints Ho Chi Minh almost as the hero (and he seems to have been sidelined as the conflict develops).

Had never previously worked out the difference between the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong (the latter were the South Vietnamese revolutionaries), so that in itself was justification for watching.

According to the doco essentially it seems most of the Vietnamese (North and South) wanted rid of the colonial power (France for a start, then the Yanks), except for those who found power in the South.

    Five episodes in of 10.

Am comparing the the civil unrest of the 60s (not just the anti war sentiment but the civil rights movement) with the current unrest and am thinking the US needs go get a grip and understand what is actually important.

I'm finally into S6 of The Sopranos. Thought I was 10 episodes away from moving on, not that I'm not enjoying it, but I'm just ready for something else.

So I look to see how many episodes, and there are 20-fucking-1 episodes in S6!!!

21!!! That's insane, I'm going to be watching this fucking show for months.

@voodoo love it when you get into a series after it's finished and there is tons of it watch. I didn't stick with the Sopranos years ago so might pick that one back up. Haven't been in the mood for commiting to series lately but after I've caught up on last nights MAFs (doesn't count) I'm probably starting The Serpent Or Sons of Anarchy (Mr's choice)...

Anyone else pining for The handmaid's tale to come back... Urgh I neeeeeed it. So hormonal.

I've heard this a bunch of times from different places, how disappointed most people were. Never had a proper spoiler, so it kind of adds to it for me - even if I hate it, at least I'll finally be in the club.

My old man was a doctor in the States in the late 60s and due to his skill set was in serious danger of being drafted. He pretty much said ‘fuck that’ and moved to Canada.

I must mention this show to him, he’d find it very interesting.

The Pembrokeshire Murders (ITV) - based on a true story/inspired by real events of the investigation of 3 cold cases, 2 double murders and a rape and assault.

Luke Evans as the lead detective, pretty decent series, moved at decent pace, not a must watch, but a decent watch.

I'm working my way through For All Mankind on Apple TV+. I hadn't realised that Ronald D. Moore was one of the creators before I started watching this. An interesting take on an alternative history in the space race.
