I remember being in an airport shuttle on the I-74 on my way to Indianapolis airport when a deer ran across the interstate, just missing our vehicle and others.

I've also witnessed a seagull get capitated by flying into a moving bicycle wheel while I was sitting outside at a cafe at the Mount.

Both in the days before the need to video everything.

I have ridden a motorcycle t-bone into the side of a young-ish cow... me and bike coming off worse than cow.
I've had a grouse (I think it was - it was bloody big) - fly out right in front of me, and again pretty much hit dead-centre at 90-degrees... I think we called that one a draw, both of us shaken, but able to go on our way.
And on my 2019 trip - fucked up a few smaller birds, with me and bike definitely coming out on top.
One of the guys on the trip apparently took out a chicken on the way through a small village in Tajikistan... and the rest of us had to ride through wondering why this old guy was yelling and shaking his fist at each one of us, despite not speeding. I still feel bad when I think that it might have been his rooster, and sole source of income.

Animals and birds are one of my top fears on the road... just unpredictable stupid fluffybunnies. (Okay, fair enough... lump them in with cyclists, pedestrians, motorists)
I always try to rationalise away my fears with "birds are fucking quick, there's no way they'd let themselves be hit by a big loud hunk of metal and human" - and then remember all the dead ones you see on the road, and the fact that I've actually hit several myself already.

@Tim gee spoiler alert in the title.

Reminds me of something I found QI about axolotls - something like they're effectively a creature that never grows out of tadpole stage, hence the outside gills and ability to regenerate?

Very cool machine. A friend of mine wanted me to go to the Pilatus factory in Switzerland and test fly one with him a while back. He's got a Phenom based in Aus which I have flown, also a lovely plane but he wanted to upgrade.

More important than the planes, he owns a vineyard. I won't turn this into another plane thread.
