I quite enjoyed watching this tournament. There was a lot of talent on show, both in the girls' and boys' tournament.
I think they could easily have picked a second tournament team, especially from the boys' teams.

To me, the biggest surprises in the girls' tournament were Cook Islands; and probably in the boys' tournament the Tongan Barbarians.

The MVPs were totally deserved. To think that Miller is only 16 years old and will probably be back, next year, too! And Tangitau is also a star in the making. I can't wait to find out whether he'll go for a career in 7s, or whether he prefers XVs.

@stargazer Any results from the Tailevu 7s being played up in Auckland this weekend? I got told the Wellington Fijian Flyers got rolled by the Auckland Nadi team 31-7 (or was it 31-12 - can't remember).

@Higgins said in Invitational, provincial, local & school sevens tournaments:

All I've seen from that tournament is the participating teams and the pools they're in; not even a draw, let alone an update.

Of all teams participating in the National Club 7s, I only follow Havelock North on instagram, so I can only give updates on how they're doing:

    First game:
    Havelock North 14- 7 Linton
(Tries to Ben Kelt, Liam Udy Johns; conversions to Trinity Neera and Sam Walton-Sexton)

    Second game:
    Havelock North 24-7 Otago University
(Tries to Trent Hape, Cooper Flanders, Ben Kelt, Trinity Neera; 2 conversions to Trinity Neera)

Havelock North finished 1st in their pool and will now play the Championship Quarter Finals. Don't know who they're playing against.

@mikey07 Yep, a good squad, although they just lost their quarter final against Christchurch RFC (7- 22).

Good mix of young talent (Flanders, Udy-Johns) and experienced players (esp Neera, also the Paewai's). I don't know Kelt, but I understand he's originally from Wanganui.

Havelock North will now play the Plate Semi at 2.40 pm v Te Puna.
