@Snowy Quinn talks about a touring party going to SA the following month at the start of the vid, would they be doing that so early in the year?

World Cup was June that year so would fit with the May date that @Snowy mentioned.

Was this before or after the 1995 ABs trial? My memory was that was the turning point for Lomu

I would guess before. The N v S match was really early in the season I think. April / May?

Was that the year we smacked them in Dunedin - the Berryman hat trick match? Lomu mentioned it when Berryman died a few years ago. I might have all of that confused though.

I had a search, it looks like there was a lot of 'trial' matches close together. I think the one Lomu was referencing was NZ Harlequins v Waikato and Berryman scored multiple tries

The match I was thinking of was the Possibles v Probables match at Okara park. I was in the crowd.. if I remember correctly Berryman was a late scratching and Lomu came into the side and forced his way into the RWC squad

I can't find any footage unfortunately

Found this for the Nth versing Sth:

        1995 8 April Dunedin North 63-22

@Duluth you are correct the Berryman hat trick match was Harlequins v Waikato (after a bucket of KFC with Jonah).

I wasn't sure where to put this video. Rieko can ground the ball correctly if he wants to.

Not often, but... I counted 11 tries where he wasn't doing the "one hand on ball touch-down diving over the top of it and letting go as he does it" - and all of those were because he was forced into grounding "properly".
It's obviously a move he has decided looks cool... and was eventually going to bite him in the arse. Luckily... it's only happened 1/15 times, so... I dunno. Let him continue thinking it looks cool? Or not?

              I'd go with not.

It makes him look like a dickhead when a try is disallowed. That is seriously uncool.

                      @Bones

                      Brilliant match analyst.

My idea of commentary heaven would be Andrew Cotter, Bayfield & Smithy on the touchline.

Never gets old. Yes the tackle and turnover was class but the line McCaw ran to get to Gerrard was brilliant.

A little late to the party here, but nice to see Mauger pat Mortlock on the back as he waltzes his way through our defensive line - very charitable.

I'm still waiting for the All Blacks channel to release a full length cleaned up version of The good, the bad, and the rugby.

This is obviously transferred from VHS.

Greg Smith was always a grub, and threw a bunch on a prone player in the ruck.
