@Nepia And what the actual fuck, pulling out a Low song for the final scene.

A Low song, in a martial arts movie - I'm not sure what just happened. It's like Wu-Tang just discovered Film-Noir.

Watched Terminator 1 and 2 with youngest. He loved them. He swore not to watch any of the sequels.

I heard that in the latest film Arnie is a reformed terminator with a family and kids. Ffs

I actually really liked the Christian Bale one despite its many critics. The second last one was pretty shite and the continuity and storyline are so convoluted and fucken confusing. Also the bloke who played John Connor is that irritiating Aussie bloke who I can't stand.

The franchise on the whole is an absolute Train Wreck now, luckily Alien is still going pretty strong ( although not without it's own flaws )

Yeah I didn’t mind that one or at least the concept. I remember thinking after having my mind blown by T2 that an adult John Connor film would be cool. It was just rather poorly executed. And had Mr Wooden himself Sam Worthington.

Yes SW brings the total to three shithouse Aussie actors who have somehow made it big in Hollywood.

Has anyone seen The Night Comes for Us on Netflix? Just watched it last night and loved it.

An Indonesian action film with much of the same cast's as The Raid/ Raid 2 but if anything the action is even more brutal.

Iwo Uwais is kind of the secondary main character but the main is another guy from the original rRaid and the Hammer Girl from the Raid 2 is also a secondary character who is getting her own spin off movie.

If you like martial arts films where people can take multiple stab wounds and bats to the head then this is for you.

I started downloading within 30 seconds of seeing the screenshot, the mention of Indonesian action/The Raid, and Iwo Uwais.
    Saturday night film, sorted.
Also, on doing a quick IMDB check to see if this was one of those I saw a couple of months ago while doing a catch-up on ridiculously awesome martial-arts films, I noticed this under "More Like This"...
    Headshot

Uwais plays a young man who washes ashore, an amnesiac with a serious head injury whose past comes back to haunt him shortly after being nursed back to health by a young doctor. Violence ensues. Sweet, sweet violence.

It's also already in the download queue... review to follow, I guess

Yeah, I saw that one mentioned on Wiki when reading up about this one - doesn't seem to have as high a profile as this one and the two raids. Sounds like an Indonesian Bourne Identity.

I love that pic, due to the chick and the carnage in the background ... gives a good pointer of what the movie is all about.

    Okay... Headshot
Plot: colour by numbers. Guy washes up on beach with amnesia, you can guess 90% of the rest.
Violence: extreme. Sometimes unnecessary, usually good, always entertaining.
Tits: none to speak of. Romantic interest is a fairly cute little thing. Token baddie-with-tits - attractive, one shot of cleavage.
Emotional heart-pulls: I did feel a little teary when one chap had his own machete inserted through his mouth into his tiny wee brain.
Metaphors: a couple of sweet ones at the end: one right at the closing of violence-climax, and one right at the very end.
Overall: not quite "The Bourne Identity", but definitely better than "Who Am I" - but then, I've always preferred my violence gratuitous rather than schlapstick.
Other notes: in this movie, there was a reference back to earlier in this thread - the main baddie actually pointed out to a character that she should have stabbed him in the neck, that stabbing him anywhere else was pointless. SE Asia movie-physics are becoming standardised.

Space Sweepers. Korean space movie about a group of misfits who capture and sell space debris. After snatching a crashed space shuttle in the latest debris chase, the crew find a 7-year-old girl inside. They realize that she's the humanlike robot wanted by the space police and decide to demand ransom in exchange.

    Mayhem ensues.

This is on Netflix. I watched in the original Korean with subtitles (about 1/3 of the dialogue is English anyway).

4.5 Robot throwing space harpoons out of 5 Elon Musky bad guys

finally got around to watching Wonder Woman 1984 (watched over 3 nights given 2.5 hours long)

It was ok, but I reckon some of the CGI was a bit shit!

Not sure if I liked Pedro Pascal (he is a good actor) but he reminded me of Bill Murray, which I dont think suited the role.

The whole Ninja Warrior stuff at the start was pointless AF.

    Gal is hot.

2.75 wishes out of 5 hang on, did I miss what they wished for?

The potential future Mrs MN5 and my ex wife ( don't ask, basically bffs ) both watched the finale of Mando with the boys and I and were both crestfallen and disappointed when Mando took his helmet off to reveal......Pedro Pascal. Apparently he has a sexy voice ? anyway, both were really devastated that he wasn't considerably hunkier than he was ( their words ).

Then again both have fornicated with me so their taste is pretty dubious at best.

@MN5 @Tim Slightly off at a tangent but connected due to Leone, Morricone, a long playing time and the title, but Once Upon a Time in America is also well worth the time investment, though the ending is a bit odd.

Butchered by the studio and a lot of the cut footage destroyed.

There's a semi-restored version on Bluray which is streets ahead of the original, cinema release.

I might just look that up, but then again I am reminded about my friend Dogbonker when discussing GOT. “Great series mate, you have to try it. Here’s the first series on DVD, tell me what you think“. 2 weeks later, when he returned the DVD set.“whaddya reckon mate”? “ Dunno. Haven’t got a DVD player. 🙄

The potential future Mrs MN5 has never seen GOT and wants to get on the bandwagon. Whilst it was a pretty major part of my life for awhile there I have absolutely no desire to ever see any part of the show again ever. Maybe the last season put me off ? Not sure exactly.....

Watched this yesterday, better that I thought it would be and could almost be the perfect video game movie. A Bourne Identity/Video Game mix where the hero has to fight all the henchmen/women before taking on the big boss.

I missed your comment about the romantic interest ... she was cute, and a welcome addition amongst all the fighty fighters. The romance subplot was ultra cheesy in that Asian way but as she was hot it balances out for me.

I think the opening prison shoot out was a warning to other countries not to invade Indonesia - as you'll need a whole magazine to kill someone 5 metres away from you and even then there's a good chance they'll have a final go at stabbing you.

My gripe: What happened to the little girl in the end? Does she live with the hero and the cute doctor? Does she go to live with relatives? Is she now presumably in the I expect pretty shitty Indonesian system for dealing with orphans? How could they not tie off that bloody subplot. 🙂
